throughout high school people adored his hair, it was always the first thing people complimented him on. he was known as steve 'the hair' harrington for fucks sake.

but this meant people felt invited to touch his hair. hands immediately gravitating to his head. the moms at work carding their fingers through it in an attempt to flirt with him or his jock friends tousling it in fake comradery.

since then, he hasn't allowed any person to touch his hair. not a single one of his hookups, explicitly telling them that his hair is a no-go. or the kids either, dustin has tried a few times but steve has shot him down immediately every time.

that was of course, until eddie came around.

eddie managed to defy most things in steves life, coming in like dynamite and blowing up every part of himself. and like every else, eddie loved his hair.

but the way eddie treated his hair was different than the others. it seems like a simple thing to anyone, but it was big to steve.

when they are out with the kids (and it was safe of course) eddie would card his fingers through the hair at the nape of steve's neck, just letting them rest there. it becomes a comfort for steve.

and eddie notoriously cannot keep still. so when they have movie nights with the entire group. steve will often sit on the ground so eddie can play with his hair. braiding it, twirling it around, playing with it. it allowed eddie to keep focused on the movie or conversations at hand and steve loved the physical contact with his boyfriend.
