Milestone
Four years ago, deep in the throes of post Sherlock S2 angst, I ventured out to the internet looking for other obsessed souls and discovered Johnlock Fic.
Three years ago, I decided to write my own.
Today, my first fic Colors rolled over 3,000 kudos on AO3.
I wrote that story as an experiment of sorts, a way to see if I had novel length fiction in me. I remember all those weeks of hard work and late nights and too much caffeine and sweat and tears and joy and wondering if anyone would ever actually read it.
This fandom has given me so much–good friends and shared laughs and amazing experiences–but I am most grateful that it helped me find the courage to write stories of my own. I am so grateful to be part of this community.
Endless thanks and hugs to every person who has taken the time to read my stories, and to every author who has given me the gift of sharing theirs. I will find and hug every one of you. You’ve been warned.

This is your lucky day, list maker! This book actually DOES exist RIGHT HERE in the form of self-published Johnlock fic. I know, because I wrote it!
It’s super cool that the color bonding concept is part of the fandom zeitgeist, I’ve read other takes on it since writing Colors, and it’s interesting to see how other people tackle the challenges of writing about all the details of totally visual concept. It was my first fic and it taught me that I had purposeful, novel length fiction in me. I still miss those versions of the boys and I’ll always be grateful for the experience I had building that world and the story that unfolded in it.

Alert and adorable reader Katie was kind enough to point out to me that my inaugural Johnlock fic rolled over the 60K hit mark today. (Though in answer to her accompanying question, unfortunately there is no prize for being the 60,000th hit. Because I don’t plan ahead well. Sorry Katie!)
Writing Colors was such an amazing experience–I learned so much about myself as a writer and story teller and I still miss those versions of our boys and their world.
Thanks so much to everyone behind each of those hits–for welcoming me into this amazing fandom and allowing me to find my place it in, then stay and play. I appreciate it more than you know. 😘
