One of the many benefits of having your queerplanotic partner live on the same property as you is they'll support you in your redneck repair endeavors.
My girlfriend and I spent years in the closet. She had a horrible time with her parents accepting her sexuality and an even worse time with our relationship. Things aren’t perfect with them, still, and maybe never will be. But that’s okay because they don’t get to dictate our lives anymore. We’re grown-ups now, with our own cats and a dog. We get to live how we want everyday rather than hide who we are. We’ve been together for eight years, and we’re getting married in 4 days. 🧡🤍🩷
happy wedding!!! hope it went lovely <3
i had a ton of internalized homophobia and self hatred and thought i didn’t deserve a partner, let alone one that wasn’t a guy(im a girl). but now i have an enby partner that i’ve been with since october and i love them with my whole heart. it gets better. i have a friend who got rejected and shamed for their crush and 2 months later they got a bf( they’re a guy).
happy for you (and your friend)! working through that internalized homophobia is no small feat.
i wanna be in a gay as hell relationship again I miss it. like genderqueer idk what my actual sexuality is but we're both like that

I'm asexual, and I'm 10 years into a loving marriage! I'm never pressured into doing anything I don't want to do, and I'm loved Exactly the way I Want to be loved. My family knows, my friends know, and I'm so delighted to have what younger-me thought was impossible. Happy pride everybody!!
so happy you have this kind of supportive relationship! <3
this story has a good ending, but I feel like it's important to share in case anyone is struggling with a similar scenario:
for a very long time, I struggled quietly with moral OCD & sexuality OCD. I was afraid of being queer -- mostly because my religion is very homophobic (with some notable exceptions). I thought I would go to hell if I acted on being gay/get expelled from my HS, so I never sought the help I desperately needed until I started getting into a relationship with my ex GF. Thankfully my therapist was very understanding and helpful, and my family and friends are completely supportive as well, too.
To anyone who is in the closet: please, please seek out help if you feel that you are going to be condemned to hell (or otherwise) for being gay -- especially if you are having thoughts about harming yourself so you don't act on the "gayness".
I got the help I needed and, let me tell you: it does get better. More than I could've ever dreamed. My religious parents have encouraged me to try to find an LGBTQ+ support group in our community so that I feel less alone.
There are people out there who will love you regardless of your sexual or gender identity -- even if they are not your blood-relatives. They will love you and everything you stand for; they will love everything that you encompass, they will love everything that falls under the category of "you".
I know this is very rare and I'm very fortunate, but things got better for me after I came out of the closet. If you're in a position to, I highly recommend coming out to at least one person.
But things do get better, guys. Slowly, maybe infinitesimally, but they do get better. 🏳️🌈❤️
so glad you had the resources to get the support you needed and are here to share this with us now!
My partner went north for the summer, and I don’t think I’ve ever quite missed him so much.
