I know Tumblr isn't really the place to promote things, but Give to the Max day is coming up, and with Tumblr's general love of gay/trans things and libraries, I'd really love to promote an organization I volunteer at.
The Quatrefoil Library is one of the oldest LGBT lending libraries in the country, located in the Twin Cities Minnesota. It was started out of a linen closet in the 80s by a gay couple wanting to build a space for LGBT storytelling and community, and has really grown in the 40 years since it's founding. To this day it remains 100% volunteer run. We have a sizable physical collection of LGBT books, periodicals, and DVDs, as well as a digital collection through Libby. We host regular events with the aim of creating a safe and welcoming space for members of our community. With the influx of people coming to the cities due to being one of the safest places in the US for trans and queer people, we also serve as a connection point to the larger LGBT community and local resources.
If you'd like to donate, you can search Quatrefoil at givemn.org, or you can donate directly here.
You can also sign up for a library card here if you're interested. Membership is 100% free. While the physical collection is in Minnesota, we do have a digital collection as well that should be accessible anywhere in the US (unfortunately our Libby license is region locked to just the United States)
If you're looking to just find out more information about us, the Library's website is qlibrary.org/
