Happy Pride Month everybody! I hope everyone (myself included) is as loudly and openly queer as possible this year. I also plan to reblog at least one queer fic per day during this month, as well as publish my own fic that you all voted on! I love all my LGBTQIA+ family, friends, and fellow humans to the ends of the earth. Never change, never apologize, never back down. In these uncertain times, all we have is each other 🏳️‍🌈💜

I never really understood what people see in queer content that focuses on the main characters having an affair. Not historical stories where it's important to the plot, but romance based ones where you're supposed to ship the pair that are cheating. They especially do this for fiction based on the 20th century cause gay marriage wasn't legal. Is it realistic to the timeline? Yes. Is it an experience the older queer generation had? Yes. Is the story well written? Yes. Does that mean I can get into it? Nah. I tried to dip my toes in movies and fanfiction, to see what the hype is about, but it just isn't for me. I even made an animation of a ship based on the trope, but I don't like it. I got bored halfway of making the damn thing. I never liked queer romance that also surrounds heterosexual relationships. It could also be me being younger or that I've seen this story be told way too many times. I don't know. Usually when I pair two characters that are clearly in a straight relationship, I'd make them polyamorous or they were never with their canon partner. It's possible that I'm being too woke about this. Obviously I don't actually condone cheating. Don't cheat on your partners. I'm also not denying queer experiences where people couldn't be open with their desired partners due to discrimination. When it comes to affairs being in romance though, it bores me.
