Lilith says something around the lines of Alastor "moaning like a girl" and it becomes IMMEDIATELY apparent that Alastor very much likes that. It escalates to saying things like "good girl," "aw, she's bashful," and "she's wet for you."
At first, Lilith and Lucifer think it's just a kink thing. But then they catch Alastor admiring themself in the mirror while wearing a pretty dress they got for a scene. The tiny, shy, happy smile on Alastor's face while they shift back and forth, tugging on a strand of their hair. It's a private little moment that they probably weren't meant to see, but they did.
Lilith and Lucifer try to test the waters— they don't know if Alastor even knows what transgender means, and knowing Al, they won't have the patience to sit down and listen to a lecture about modern labels.
The Morningstars start off small. Or, at least what THEIR version of small would be. Lilith asking Alastor to shop for some dresses with her. Lucifer calling Alastor his wife— Lucifer what the fuck are you thinking that is NOT starting off small like we agreed—
Alastor eventually asks what's going on. Not that they're upset with the newest development, being treated like a lady is quite nice actually! But, well, they can't help but be a little confused as to where this came from.
Since Alastor is the one asking, it's much easier to actually explain their suspicions without Alastor immediately rejecting the modernity of the language.
Alastor didn't know she could just decide to be a woman if she wanted to. Or that it's more socially acceptable now than it would have been in the past.
She's definitely going to grow her hair out past her chin now. She don't gotta abide by male hairstyles any longer!
