So you know of those gays (usually white) that made dumb tiktok dancing to list of countries that legalized same sex marriage and list of countries that discriminate against LGBTQIA+ poeple as a way to say something racist. yeah i kinda got the same vibes from some comments regard how asian BL is homophobic just cause they don't live up to queer western standard. look, i'm not saying that some BLs and their creators don't deserve criticism regard how they capitalized/exploited queerness for an easy cash grab.

But people need to understand that Asian countries despite recent progress are still very much culturally conservatives. so when people says that thai bl is homophobic and all the characters looks like bunch of straight guys, which is true for some olders thai BLs i'm not gonna denied that. but after all this time and newer BLs generally being very queer and most of creators being out queer themself and poeple still making these comments, i'm annoyed.

And don't get me start on the actors. you don't know them! why are you making assumption and calling them queerbaiter just cause they acts in bl. like maybe they're straight, maybe they're not but what they're definitely doing is making queer content for you know, queer people here. so when you made halfass comments about their sexuality what do you think that made other queer people who still in the closet feels. and when you add the nationality to that, "these thai bl pair are this and that, this korean actor is so ungrateful for his bl past", etc. when our societies are still very much still in progress regard LGBTQIA+ acceptance. it make us living here feels fucking awful like somehow we're lesser queer than people in the west just cause we don't have citibank at pride or some shit.

And the shittiest in my humbled opinion are comments regard censored chinese bls. people do know like, that the creators making these bls are risking their livelihoods for this. that these shows getting make at all are miracles. yes it sucked that they're censored but they're still very much queer shows making by queer people who want to express thier queerness despite the chinese government being the chinese government. when people dimissing these shows as not belonging in queer media, you're also dimissing their creators and audiences as not belonging in the community.

Look what i want to say is that we're trying our best over here, and maybe our best are not up to your liking. the ways we talk and express our queerness maybe still can be perceived as problematic by western queer standard. but these media are our house and you're the guests. for people aren't shitty we appreciated that you're here engaging and loving our media, this is your home too and you're welcome in it. i can speak for myself that i very much love being here on tumblr and interacting with people from all over the world who love BL. but for people who are being shitty sometimes about asian bl.

This is almost impossible i watch so many dramas so this will be off the top of my head and in no particular order (very thai drama biased probably) anyways let’s go!

POND NARAVIT (ME AND THEE)

yes. this is very much a comedy appreciation post for him as well. oh my god when i say i don’t feel like i’m watching an actor playing a character at all i mean it.. he just IS theerakit like this is the character personally created FOR HIM and i couldn’t be more proud. the chemistry with phuwin goes unsaid obviously but i haven’t been this happy watching a show in a while and seeing it receive so much love!!! my heart is bursting with joy. i love pond and i love this character and this whole cast honestly. 💖💖💖

ZI YU (REVENGED LOVE)

he truly brought this character to life and he did it effortlessly! a big comfort character for me and i haven’t rewatched this show yet but when i do.. i just know he’ll make me smile with his silly gestures and one liners. really enjoyed this one. 💜

LOOKMHEE PUNYAPAT (HARMONY SECRET)

i mean do i even have to say it?? she absolutely bodied this character and she looked so good while doing it. i liked her so much that i ended up watching “affair” at the same time harmony secret was airing. i went into this show not knowing what i was signing up for but i want a premium subscription and a renewal to whatever she will give me like i’m sold.

NAM YOON SU (LOVE IN THE BIG CITY)

i’ve talked about this many times and i’ll never get tired of saying it. the way yoonsu embodied go young in such a beautiful and unapologetically QUEER way made me so happy to see on screen!! it was so raw and real and i had never seen much of it on a kbl. you can tell he studied this character so carefully and his portrayal was done with so much respect and love for his craft. outstanding performance in my opinion.

NAMTAN TIPNAREE (PLUTO)

she was so good in this role!! whoever decided to finally put her in a gl and with film of all people truly deserves an award. the way she portrayed raw emotions… the yearning… the falling in love… she did so well and playing twins is not easy. obviously the chemistry with film was the cherry on top.

NEO TRAI (ONLY FRIENDS)

it wouldn’t be a fave characters post without my beloved boston. honestly, i got excited for this character even from the beginning when the pilot trailer aired and when i saw how messy things would become, but after the actual show aired i will always be a boston apologist… love to hate him… hate to love him.. he was so himself and neo played this character perfectly. unapologetically gay and so wrong that it’s right.

FOURTH NATTAWAT (MY SCHOOL PRESIDENT)

when a new actor makes you believe they’ve been doing it for years, that’s when you really have to hand them their flowers. fourth nailed this role. gun had a bit of everything as a character and i think that’s why so many ppl found him a comforting one and we wanted to go with him along this path of living life through high school, finding himself, falling in love, etc. fourth has a wonderful way of making a character so compelling and lovable that you can’t stop watching. he truly shocked me in the best way. (gif from a scene that truly deserved a slow clap)

EST SUPHA (THAMEPO: HEART THAT SKIPS A BEAT)

oh god the way i immediately fell for this character. po had so much emotion in his eyes that even in moments where there was no spoken dialogue, you would just get what he was feeling.. and it was all thanks to est’s incredible acting. his soft spoken voice and the way he would carry himself. you could tell est really worked hard on studying po and his mannerisms and created a character who we all would end up adoring and wanting to protect. and of course, the birth of yet another comfort character.

OFF JUMPOL (NOT ME)

a surprise to no one if you know me well. i wholeheartedly believe this was his breakout role and i’m so glad he’s discovered his love for darker roles because he truly shines in those. sean was a broken and lost man and off played him so beautifully. he did an incredible job of bringing his pain and heartbreak to life.

JOONG ARCHEN (THE HEART KILLERS)

my darling fadel. joong completely won me over with this character. I was so invested in him and his emotions and i felt for him everytime. i loved knowing that he wasn’t a (morally) “good” person but still rooting for him to be happy, to get the guy, to get away with everything, to get his fulfilling ending… all of this thanks to joong’s amazing portrayal. (see gif below because that scene absolutely wrecked me)

Misery is my default. I am back at my parent's house and having a rough-ish time. It is difficult to be back in a place I have outgrown, and a place that I struggle to accept myself in. I am in search of a job and in search of connections that mean things to me and my solace is the love stories I see and read about. So here are my thoughts on the tag!

I see this and I immediately think only of my roots. Where Your Eyes Linger, Bad Buddy, A Tale of A Thousand Stars, 180 Degrees Longitude Passing Through Us, Until We Meet Again, Love Mechanics, Between Us all stories that have brought me here. They are all that contain misery butttt, I also feel I tend to find and latch on to even the smallest moment of misery and build it up in my head.

So here are my rules. This list is going to have shows only from 2025. I have few honorary mentions from old shows butttttt.... the rest are only from last year.

Anyway...it's been a lot of dilly-dallying so here we are with the list.

Love in the Moonlight

This was a particularly difficult watch. Any show dealing with internalised homophobia hits hard to me. And despite my apprehensions with the finale, (dad redemption as well as the non-resolution to Pin because she deserved all the inheritance and a happy life) it is still an extremely beautiful series.

All the three main characters are incredibly hurt. But they find love with each other. Family with each other. So the betrayal hurts so much more.

The comphet scene. It broke my heart to see Saenkaew try to be the version of him others insisted on him, to see Pin be cruel towards Saenkaew because she was hurting. All this while Sasin is hurt and has no way to go and be with Saenkaew. (I wasn't able to find a gif for that scene so that's that)

Perfect 10 Liners

I was not going to watch Perfect 10 Liners and then I saw Perth and Santa and I wanted to see how the golden retriever fell for the toxic black cat character. But then, I stuck around for FaifahWine. The chronic people pleaser always taking care of others around him first wanting to be able to take care of a special someone and being taken care of by someone who was in their corner always, hit insanely close to home. I love them both. They are incredibly dear to me. I couldn't stop crying over the two of them choosing each other when people around them are so confused about it all.

Thame-Po

I hate the miscommunication trope. Cannot stand it. I was prepared to hate it here to. But then I realised just how much they both loved each other. Thame begging Po to accept that he is willing to be tired in their love and not to break up with him wrecked me. I couldn't stop sobbing for a while before having to go back to work.

Now some honorary mentions. A large part of my watch list last year was Thai so here are some honorary non-thai mentions that are not limited to last year. I am not giving any explanations this time. Only scenes. If you have been lurking on my tumblr for a while, you won't be surprised.
