It might change in intensity or shape, or perhaps just the lens it is viewed through changes, it might be its contents (a kenochoric gender experience that isn't connected to concepts that are textually kenous, but other concepts that are kenous to the user), the presentation of this gender in this omen's identity may be particularly unusual, etc. Whatever it may be, this omen's experience with a kenochoric gender is regarded as eccentric to them.

Qel puts down his cup of caf to sign to you. He's not looking quite as exhausted as he usually does, but there are Still dark circles under his eyes and the caf pot is already half empty.

'I love being able to pursue what I think is interesting. I have my research to complete for my sphere, but I can have other projects too. I have a budget now.'

His hands speed up and he looks excited. The bracelets and rings on his wrists and fingers catch the light.

There are a lot of people who feel understandably concerned about the waspish little Sith having a budget.

'Currently I'm working on a hybridisation of Sith alchemy and botany. My garden has never been so alive! ... And deadly.'

The rest of the Citadel know that the greenhouses are not to be disturbed. Newcomers would have found the unease funny if not for the occasional scream that can be heard from the glass buildings.

A faint blush of purple spreads over Qel's cheeks.

'So yes, I'd say the freedom is my favourite part of my apprenticeship. I can learn whatever I want! I can study! I can talk about my research with people who care, and who are interested.'

There's no reason for him to be feeling this way.

He tries to tell himself that as though it's suddenly going to start calming him now when it never has before.

They're visiting one of the larger field labs, and there are a few departments vying for space among the research tents.

Biotic Science have somehow wrangled a nexu's share, and they're loud.

The sound of clinking chains and animal distress worm their way into his ears, the smell of metal and the slop they pass off as feed invading his nose. Straw on cage floors. Metal collars. Chains. Angry voices.

His head is swimming and he tries to focus on Yare, walking beside him. He's safe. He's strong.

Qel swallows painfully, and tries to control his breathing.

He despises this. All of it. His own reaction to it most of all.

An angry voice breaks his concentration, the sound of yanked chains and the impact of something on flesh makes him flinch and before he realises what's happened, he's reached for Yare's hand and is all but crushing his fingers.

He's squeezing it tight, and it's so much bigger than his own hand.

His stomach curls unpleasantly, but the touch is helping almost as much as Ryali's did.
