( @pzfr - Continued from here!)
There was quite a mess left behind by Dr. Horrible's last experiment when things went awry, but he's pretty sure he got the worst of it cleaned up. Of course, his neighbors all complained to the front office about the racket it had caused and there was no avoiding having his rent raised, bunch of slavering fools. It was a miracle he hadn't been evicted, though, so at least there was that.
Now he just had to hope that Rex didn't notice any of the remains of destruction and question any of it, because he certainly didn't want to have to explain to him what had happened and hoped he hadn't heard about any of it already. He was assuming he hadn't, because he is almost certain that if he had, the super powerful being would have already drilled him with questions.
At any rate, he's here now, and Billy is just as excited to show him what the results of that destructive experiment have yielded.
"Rex, good to see ya! Yeah, yeah, come right on over, glad you could make it, told you not to rush, though," he says, in full Dr. Horrible get-up, as though he wasn't expecting him to rush. "Check it out, man. Beautiful, isn't it? Bet you're wondering exactly what it is," he says more than a bit smugly as he places a ridiculously huge firearm of some sort into Rex's hands, one that is clearly labeled Dr. Horrible's Doomsday Device.
"I guess to be more accurate, you're probably wondering exactly what it does. The label's a bit misleading. It's called that because of who made the very generous donation of what's behind the energy source of this weapon," he explains proudly. "You can probably guess who that is. And no, it doesn't end the world, although maybe it could. I haven't tested it for that yet. That's the thing, man. The stuff inside of it? The energy? I know your friend called it Dampening energy. But I think it'd be more accurate if we called it Deus Ex Machina energy. Because that stuff? It can do anything," he says with an excited smile as he waves his hands around.
"And I mean anything, just about. Here, give it a shot. The trigger has a built-in neural-link. It'll link up with your thoughts and whatever you want it to do? It'll do, man. I mean, almost anything."
And he means almost anything. Depending on what Rex thinks up, the gun might shoot out a pulse of silvery blue energy that will form into an object, whatever object Rex was thinking of. It might open up a portal. It might shoot out fire. It might turn all the lights in the room off or on. It might make a loud noise. It might heal wounds or create them. Or it might destroy the room and everything in it, or even rip all the souls out of everyone's body.
Be careful what you think. Thoughts are dangerous.
