Clydiscope had been invited to a formal event a few months back, but she was never good at remembering dates. Luckily her phone was there to tell her about the party tonight, and she was able to scramble to get together something decent at the last minute. Now sitting in the back of a taxi, Zaria put her hands to work braiding flowers into her hair.

“You look beautiful,” Zaria pulled her fingers through Clydiscope blonde hair, the small stem of a violet pinched between the locks. “You’re just running a bit late, not the end of the world. Besides, the host will be more than happy you showed up at all, you don’t need to impress anyone.”

“But I should have remembered.” Clydiscope looked out the car’s window at the lights and people they drove past, “I should have been able to make some appointments, arrangements, to really look good. I should have remembered it.”

“Maybe, but you’re always busy Clyde. You being able to show at all shows you care enough. Your fine baby, and you look fine.” Clydiscope leaned back as Zaria pushed the last bobby pin into her hair. She had braided violets into a half-up do, with it all coming together into a bun at the back. They matched the purple accents of her dress, tool showing under the blue sundress’s skirt.
