Walt, if he had been an alpha, well, that would have been different. People would have seen the estate as having a future. As it was, with just a childless, pre-bonded omega and his beta ward, there was little hope of anything here. Walt was smart, though and had prospects. He had worked hard and kept up his mother's acquaintances with the help of Will. Luckily for them both Will was well respected, for an omega, and, he was sure, people took pity on him. It was mostly their love of Molly that helped to assure Walt's future.  The future of the estate, however, was another issue. If Will could keep it alive until Walt married, then perhaps, but being a beta meant a match with an alpha would mean losing his family name, and a match with an omega or another beta would mean little financial gain. Will doesn't really think about his own future. His focus is on Walt. He is old now, too old for any attachments, and is pre-bonded and widowed. Who would want to take on such a creature?

Summary:

Post season 3. Will is trying to understand how killing makes him feel, struggling to accept the darker side of himself. He commits murder with Hannibal watching as a way of exploring what is means to him and how it makes him feel. Hannibal cooks the spoils of Will’s hunt and they share an intimate moment.
