The iconic purple dress that Liza Minnelli’s Sally Bowles wears as she sings the film’s title song wasn’t actually designed for the 1972 film by 𝑪𝒂𝒃𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒕 Oscar-nominated costume designer Charlotte Flemming. The dress sold at auction, and a label inside reveals it is a creation by Loris Azzaro.   More interestingly, however, is that this dress may have appeared the year before in the 1971 film 𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝑴𝒆 𝑺𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒍𝒚 (aka 𝑨 𝑺𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆 𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝑨𝒇𝒇𝒂𝒊𝒓), where it was worn by Italian film star Virna Lisi as Nathalie Revent.   Is it the same exact dress, or were both purchased individually from Loris Azzaro? It’s difficult to know, but as we know here at recycled movie costumes, it is certainly not impossible for them to be the same piece.   See more at Bit.ly/PostEd269
