Now, with Purirun. As much as I liked her, she became a static character after her arc of wanting to be a Precure to save Idol, Wink, and Kyun-Kyun and getting her memories back. She didn't have any significant development after that and kind of did nothing afterwards. Her obliviousness to Meroron's romantic advances was funny at first, but it started to drag out as the season went on to the point where you wonder if Meroron only loved the fantasy of being with her.

After they became ZukyoonKiss thanks to the Heart Kirai Lock and with the cost of Purirun losing her memories, Meroron took advantage of that by avoiding the girls by taking Purirun away at several points and keeping her from everyone so that only she keeps Purirun company. Although, Meroron admitting that a miracle was required to get Purirun her memories back was pretty good on her, she got upset that Uta was the miracle, so her possessiveness was amped up when she forcefully snatched Purirun away to keep her from joining the girls, not allowing Purirun to decide anything without her. This would keep going until Zukyoon told Kiss that she'll always love her, but she never exactly specified whether if she loved her as a friend or as a lover like Kiss does, which doesn't really help that she stayed oblivious for the rest of season.

In my opinion, Meroron's obsessive crush on Purirun, and the latter's cluelessness to it derailed the two in different ways with Meroron still trying various ways to woo Purirun and the latter never having the agency to tell Meroron that she doesn't reciprocate the love Meroron has for her and that she is one of the friends she cherishes. I feel like that would've gave the subplot they had a satisfying conclusion without much drama.
