sleepy dante in some botticelli's drawings for purgatorio
The Boat of Souls (Dante's Divine Comedy) by Gustave Doré
My literature pet peeve is when books, movies, games, etc said they are based on the divine comedy but only use the layers of hell and ignore how Dante Alighieri made purgatory and heaven. No mountain/terrace/garden/whatever you call it of purgatory or sphares of heaven based on the planets.
My other pet peeve is when the layers of hell are based on the deadly sins and/or represent lucifer as king, that's how you know they don't know shit about the divine comedy.
