The C O V E R , and a small explanation on the background. This cover with the stunning BIBI VAN DER VELDEN was lensed for Pure Luxe magazine. The most important brief was: a plain green background, a solid green. But.. green did not really relate to me, and I missed a bit of a link to Bibi. So.. let’s stretch the brief! Haha.. not to the pleasure of editor at large @floriswyers .. but.. I promised to shoot a solid green as fall back, to sooth his worries. Bibi uses scarab shields in her Jewelry.. scarab shields are somewhat green.. so there’s a start! I collected some scarabs at Bibi’s and tried different shots, but the extreme close up worked best. So, SWIPE!, I lensed 1 scarab shield and printed that to a 180x120cm satin baryta blow up. You can see my toes ànd the very scarab wing on the picture of the print. So, now we had a ‘green’ background, but with a story to tell.
