———– a frustrated noise escapes full lips as rinna presses a little harder than necessary on the other’s knuckles , wiping away the blood and dirt and grime. like the last time he’d gotten his hands into an awful , bloody mess wasn’t enough to warn him off making a guy’s face a pulp of teeth and other disgusting shit.

“I am sorry too, amor,” he says as he runs his fingers idly through Taliesen’s hair, then down his spine, and watches the ceiling. He looks pained. He closes his eyes.

“I have thought about what you said. One of my birds found signs of Crows in one of the Inquisition’s villages. That boy--Vicento--the village was under his protection, and I am afraid what the Crows will do to get to me. And somehow, while a woman is mourning the loss of her sons, I do not think she cares if it is due to incompetence or malice.” --And the Crows wouldn’t either. He would be long gone, in a gutter or in a basement as target practice for a fledgling bird. 

“And what is more, I have to ask the Commander to post troops in the village without alarming the villagers. The Commander, Taliesen--” 

He lets out a noise of frustration, pinching his eyes tighter shut.

strong arms press her against the wall , trapping her against him as her honey eyes glare up , lip curled in a snarl. it’s mirrored on his own stronger features , dark eyes meeting her glare evenly , as both of them wait for just a tiny slip up from the other , a weakness , an advantage. taliesen moves his leg so it’s between her thighs and full lips part , a sharp gasp and there it is —-

fucking bastard. rinna feels her knees weaken as he leans down , one hand coming to fist in wild curls , catching her in a fierce kiss that’s all tongue and teeth and fighting to be the one on top because she’s so goddamn proud that she won’t bend over for him without a fight , no matter how much she may want to. it’s messy and it’s fucked but it’s them. fingers tug so her neck is bared and taliesen leans down to graze his teeth over her pulse , sending shivers over tan flesh , a thrum of heat sent to her core as her hips jerk on something that is utterly primal.

voice low and husky , she hisses through grit teeth. ❝ sweet fucking maker , taliesen —-  ❞
