2008 Da Li Tuo, Xia Guan | The Puerh Junky
This is my first time taking notes on a tea! So please be patient with my poor terminology and such.
This tea tastes like smokey honey, and smells just the same. You’re instantly hit with that smell of sweet smoke when sniffing it. Apart of The Puerh Junky’s tobacco class samples and it’s obvious to see why! I’m quite new to raw puerh (mostly been drinking ripe) and it always surprises me the amount of flavor you can get in one tea. Later infusions become sweeter and the smoke becomes less noticable. While the tea never bitters, it certainly becomes stronger the more you brew it. In the mouth the tea is very smooth; almost creamy feeling. This is a new thing for me after only drinking very cheap ripe puerhs. I very much appreciated the quick shipping too, The Puerh Junky is a U.S. seller, so I got my tea under a week.
Everything I said above should be taken with a grain of salt. This truly is my first time expressing what I think about a tea into words. If you’ve had this tea before, you might disagree with me. Everyone’s tastes and level of experience are different. If you’ve had this tea, please let me know what you thought!
I’m giving this tea a solid 4 out of 5 stars! This rating is pretty arbitrary (especially seeing as I’m not very experienced with puerh yet), but it’s more for me to look back and reference quickly when purchasing. Btw, it’s 6pm… is that too late to drink tea? I may or may not have an 8am class tomorrow! LOL.
