重厚大胆で繊細、抒情的でいてコミカル、カッコよくて奇天烈 – Sardine Headの音楽は、あらゆるジャンルを超えた独自の感性によって創造されている。 楽曲の妙、演奏技術の確かさ、硬軟自在のパフォーマンスと脱力系トーク！（Wakana Sugiyama文引用） 2000年バンド結成。東京を中心にライブ活動を開始。齋藤丈二（G）、川田義広（G）、小林武文（D）、湯浅崇（B）で2003年1stアルバム「parallel lines」をリリース。同年、12月Club Asia Pにてイベント「I scream You scream We all scream Ice cream Man!!」主催。出演はsardine headの他、日本のジャムバンドシーンの草分け的存在big frog、meltoneなど。2006年2ndアルバム「Shuffle」リリース。2007年6月1日ユーコトピアにてミネソタ州ミネアポリスを活動拠点とするジャムバンド、God Johnsonの来日公演オープニングアクトを果たす。2010年渡米。小林が行けずも荒川康伸に代役を依頼しアメリカ公演を実現。ミネアポリスCaboozeにてGod Johnson主催のイベント及びロサンゼルスThe Jointなどに出演。 2012年、自主レーベルを離れ、マインズ・レコードより4thアルバム『RECONNECT』をリリースする。2015年、初のライブハウスでのフリー・ライブに向けてototoyからシングル「No Leaf」をハイレゾ音源でリリース。同年フリー・ライブ「SARDINE HEAD for FREE vol.1」を青山月見ル君想フで行う。2016年に同じく月見ル君想フにて「SARDINE HEAD for FREE vol.2」を開催。同年フリー・ライブをDVD化、「live at moon romantic Aoyama」リリース。2019年4月、2年半ぶりに「SARDINE HEAD for FREE vol.3」を開催。 2020年5月からYOUTUBEでworks from homeシリーズを公開中。 Bold, delicate, lyrical, comical, cool and bizarre – Sardine Head's music is created with a unique sensibility that transcends all genres.
