Carlton Douglas Ridenhour (born August 1, 1960), known professionally as Chuck D, is a rapper, author, and producer. He is best known as the leader of the rap group Public Enemy. The group and Chuck D are known for their politically driven lyrics. What I like most about Chuck D is his booming voice and sharp lyrics. He has never been caught up in silly pop culture things. He has stuck to hip-hop and politics. Chuck D has been ranked among the best rappers (in my top 10) and is an author and a hip-hop leader, lecturing on hip-hop and politics. In 2013, Public Enemy was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in the same year, Chuck D received an honorary doctorate from Adelphi. Chuck D has worked with various artists over his career. He is currently a member of the supergroup Prophets of Rage. Chuck D is an innovative and influential rapper who has opened the door for conscious rappers.
