How do you think dragapult compared to neo slowking murkrow meta?
so i was 0 years old when that happened and i had to go look up the deck, but my immediate impression is that while the decks gameplan of totally locking the opponent out of taking any relevant game actions would be miserable to encounter today, im always charmed by these really early broken tcg decks that are clearly a result of the designers not having a handle on whats too good yet.
a lot of my issue with dragapult as a top deck comes from the gameplay of the format not feeling very novel in any particular direction, the concept of "a 2 prize stage-2 attacker who takes a couple turns to set up and attacks the bench" is pretty stock for ptcg. murkrow and slowking being two of the best cards in the room probably leads to way more unplayable games, but like, at least there's something interesting to talk about there, even if its "i cant believe they printed this! they should never do that again"
ive played a lot of bad formats across tcgs over the years but the current dragapult format in ptcg is an all-timer for getting me to completely drop interest in a game for a year. usually one deck formats are kind of interesting regardless of how miserable the gameplay is for the way that they exploit some critical flaw in the game engine, but pult is just a card at a 2023 rate that didnt rotate with all of the other powerful 2023 cards, in a game that already devolves into comparing rates at lower power levels. and then you look at the other decks in the format and its like. heres a deck that tries to set up a more efficient linear attacker than pult and go slightly faster. heres a deck that tries to wall pult and play a 40 minute game of draw-go. ok have fun. and dont worry! theres nothing good coming out in the next couple of sets so you get to do this for the rest of the year until rotation
