I don't like liquidmantis because liquid is just as manipulative and awful toward Mantis as anyone else at the end

my view is that things changed between them from the time they split up to Shadow Moses and. while Mantis may have felt the same toward liquid, it's clear that liquid doesn't feel the same anymore.

liquid has his sights set on his goal, and Mantis ends up failing him. therefore, Mantis means nothing from then on.

and no, I don't care that their backstory was retconned in V.

Normalize Mantis being unable/unwilling to keep up with personal hygiene because he's too physically ill/too traumatized (the shower stalls are too narrow and too enclosed and it makes him think of the labs)

Mantis not being able to move parts of his body very well because the burned skin healed too tightly over his joints

Mantis with ARFID and disordered eating

Mantis being immunocompromised due to his burn scarring and the fact that he's missing most of his nose (and therefore a lot of the defenses a nose provides)

Mantis being unable to walk due to his physical illness and that's why he floats everywhere
