just a small question, and no need to answer, but my psychologist recently informed me that I was a "superfeeler" and proceeded to explain to me what it was, and ect. anyway, i was wondering if a superfeeler and empath are the same, but just different words? - admin
Hello! Sorry for the late response! Thank you for the patience!
Honestly? It would depend on *how* you feel things!
âSuperfeelerâ - If Iâm understanding this correctly, itâs like a level of sensitivity to emotions, right? You feel emotions more strongly, and/or you feel for others just as strongly and more passionate and/or understanding of the human emotions. Feelings hit on a deeper level for you than for most people perhaps. Yes yes?
Empathic - This is a term for a type of Psychic Ability. Itâs that youâre âPicking Upâ emotions from other people. Itâs not that youâre feeling things your own, but you just *know* what other people around you (or maybe across long distance if youâre strongly connected to them) are feeling despite not being told or aware of it. Itâs harder to explain (as most Emotion-Related things are), itâs not these feelings are your Own--- they belong to someone else, and youâre just hyper aware of this. Sometimes though that picking up on another personâs feeling will cause you to feel it as well (which is most often the case). If someone is feeling irritable or sad or anxious and so on, then Iâll act in the same--- even if I have no reason of my own to feel such a way. Itâs just that Iâm picking up on other peopleâs feelings as if theyâre my own, but in reality theyâre not.Â
I hope I made sense so far! Describing Empathy at 1:20 in the morning is really hard, LoL~!
Now, often times though âSuper-Feelersâ have a chance to be a little bit Empathic as well. I know I am. Iâm an extremely sensitive person because of how I feel everyoneâs emotions, so my own emotions plus having to *completely experience* anotherâs is really, well, emotional! As an Empath, too, you also have the understanding and deep connection of understanding human emotions, and to make it worse: Empathics tend to be a little âhyper-sensitive,â meaning that we tend to feel as though the emotions are hitting us 2x as much as the person experiencing it. (This isnât that itâs âworseâ for us--- itâs just that we know how to handle our own emotions, but handling another personâs a little harder to manage when youâre not used to it. The person who is personally experiencing things will always be more valid, I say). Â
To Summarize: Empathics tend to be âSuper-Feelersâ or Sensitive, but not all âSuper-Feelersâ are Empathics!
