DriftRod 1, On a scale of 1 - 10, how would you rate this ship?

Hmm, like 6.5-7/10, mostly on account of their reunion and reconciliation being speed-run, which flattened out a lot of the aspects of their relationship that interest me.

6, A song you think of for this ship?

My brain doesn't really brain like this, tbh, but the first one that comes to mind is always "Maps" by Maroon 5.

15, One to three AUs you would like to see explored with this ship?

1) I'm gonna probably bungle explaining this but I'd like to see something based on the original plans for their arc but with characterization closer to what we got in canon. So, like. Drift's spirituality is sincere, even if he does play it up a little, and that's what drives his frustration to the point of mutiny. Well, that and hurt over feeling that Rodimus is prioritizing his own whims over Drift's vision of their journey by veering off on so many side quests. Idk, I think my thing is that they're both manipulative in their own ways but that element of their dynamic is weighed in Rodimus's favor in canon and so I think it would be fun to have Drift steering instead, lol, and I also think there would be some really juicy emotional fallout. Especially because they both rely on each other to some extent for validation. Even more especially, imo, if it's Ratchet instead of Ultra Magnus who's on Roddy's other shoulder because I think his particular brand of obnoxious skepticism in general and their juxtaposition more specifically would be a good foundation for Drift reconsidering his actions. Y'know, protective disapproving Uncle Ratch over here running his mouth like, "blah, blah, blah, I knew that bot was all talk, yadda yadda." Though of course I would want the focus to be on Rodimus realizing that he took Drift for granted and didn't do enough to show how much their relationship meant to him because he was so caught up in Doing His Thing.

2) Decepticon!Rodimus has never really spoke to me but something where he's some flavor of NAIL, like maybe a mercenary or a bounty hunter or something, would be fun, I think.

3) Mundane-ish AU where they meet in seminary school. I haven't fleshed this idea out at all, I just think it'd be cute.

10/10, give or take a point depending on my mood. Love these freaks.

15, One to three AUs you would like to see explored with this ship?

1) Prowl does manage to flee Cybertron and Chromedome does go with him. I think this would be most interesting as an alternate universe that the main universe characters fall into, tbh, especially if it's Chromedome because then he's confronted with the idea that he could've "saved" Prowl. And also other-Chromedome, or rather Tumbler, is confronted with what happened after they left and what part he and Prowl could've played in it. Tbf, I don't think their relationship would've necessarily been well-served by escaping. Better than what happened in canon, sure, that's a low enough bar. But we can see in the Shadowplay arc that Tumbler WANTED to be involved and so while I think there is a universe out there where Prowl gets away and is content with that, leaving with Prowl would be something Tumbler did for Prowl's sake and I do think he would regret it and I don't think he would take many pains to hide that. My boy is petty. But they'd stay together because what else do they have? Plus Tumbler always had his habit of collecting weirdos, so. Maybe Tumbler settles down eventually and accepts the choice he made but I can't imagine he'd ever really be happy with it. (Which is something I think our Chromedome would come at with a very skewed perspective because it's not like he tends to believe he deserves happiness anyway, lol.)

2) Prowl takes Osteros to Chromedome instead of Impactor. There are so many ways this could go horribly wrong, Idek where to start.

3) I've long been fascinated by the idea of either Chromedome or Prowl suffering a memory wipe or something that resets him back to the pre-war days when they were partners. And in this confusing, new-to-him world, of course the only person he's prepared to trust is… his old partner. I'm back and forth on which character I'd want to see in which role. Because while I very much think Prowl's pragmatism would win out immediately and he'd use this to every possible advantage, I don't think he'd be emotionally unaffected by having Chromedome's trust and regard back. Especially since Chromedome would've lost his knowledge of and experience with mnemosurgery, so it's not like they'd be in a position where Prowl could easily distance himself by putting Chromedome up to his old work. On the flip side, considering how fondly Chromedome still remembers the bot Prowl was before he was Prowl (Prowl), I think the juxtaposition of his frustration-- and Rewind's, for that matter-- over the situation vs his sense of responsibility towards Prowl in this scenario would be incredibly interesting.
