Pain and screams. A giant breach in the sky, tainting the light with a sickly green hue. Terrible, twisted creatures prowling the streets. Where Miwor Town once stood was now a distorted hell-scape, with only remnants of buildings and the wailing of the inhabitants to suggest what it once had been. Roswitha had trouble believing it was even real. Everything had been so carefree only a moment ago. Maybe it was just another one of those horrid nightmares. Maybe she would wake up soon. But even as she hoped it was a dream she knew it wasn’t true. This was all too real. This was truly happening. She looked over to see Gonzalo not far from her and her eyes widen as she noticed the blood running down his side.
“Your arm!” she yelled in shock, and as she stood to help him she winced. Her body ached all over, bruised and battered from the fall. Gritting her teeth she continued walking over. Nothing was bleeding or broken on her. She would survive this. She dropped to her knees, hands fluttering around the wound until they dropped uselessly at her sides. “I can’t-” she grimaced, words dying on her tongue as she ducked her head. Maybe if she was pure Siften she could heal it but...
With a jolt her head snapped up, eyes wide in alarm as she looked around where they had landed. They were in the woods. Or what used to be the woods. All the plant life had been scorched away and those that did remain were twisted and warped until they hardly resembled plants at all. She stood up too quick in her desperation, wobbling a bit before she steadied herself, her face twisting into something angry and feral. Where is Birgir? she thought, whipping her head around. She remembered how only moments before the blast he had been with them. He must still be nearby! She looked around desperately, hoping to see a sign of him anywhere. Mustering what little energy she had left, she sent her senses as wide as they’d allow, trying to find where Birgir was. There!
She was about to go run off to find him when she suddenly remembered the warrior behind her. She had join the Wardens for protection and for someone to watch her back. What would it say of her if she didn’t do the same?
“Can you stand?” she called out, quickly glancing between him and the direction she needed to go. She would not leave him behind, but she needed to get to Birgir as soon as she could. Aside from tooth and claw, the bear had little in ways of protection.
