To celebrate shark week here are some things you can do to help sharks from home! π¦π 1) Sign Petitions Signing petitions for shark conservation is the easiest way for you to help sharks from home! π Here is an example of some you can sign now! https://marineconservationcostarica.org/petitions-for-marine-conservation/ 2) Use Your Voice Social media is a powerful tool that you can use as a platform for your voice. Start sharing photos, articles, and updates about sharks and help spread awareness of this topic! π 3) Donβt Use Shark Products Shark meat is the obvious example with many people selling it under different names like Mamon, Cazon, Bolillo and Bolillon. There are also many other products like creams and makeup that we must be careful with! 4) Get Involved with Conservation Groups Find local conservation groups and aid them! 5) Education Is Power Learn as much as you can about sharks! This can help you avoid behaviors that can hurt them, and you can educate others to do the same! Hi, hey, what's up. Protect sharks. They're important. Thank you.
#Repost from our friends @vegan4fauna @download.ins --- A few days ago, two shore-based shark fishing incidents occurred at Juno Beach. A hammerhead shark that was said to have been caught previously by shore-based shark fishers was found dead near the shore. A photographer captured a tiger shark eating the hammerhead carcass. In another incident, a shore-based shark fisherman dragged a shark onto the beach and killed it after ignoring several beachgoers who pleaded with the shore-based shark fisherman to return the shark to the ocean. Despite the new FWC laws that went into effect on July 1, 2019, sharks are still being harassed and killed by shark fishers. The disrespectful behavior and blatant disregard for the lives of sharks in this "sport" are rampant. We need stronger enforcement to deter such conduct and hold those that disrespect Florida's wildlife accountable for their actions. The next FWC meeting takes place virtually on July 22nd-23rd. Please submit your public comment with any information or concerns about shore-based shark fishing to [email protected], before the upcoming meeting. Please join our Shark Watch program. https://www.shark-watch.org/ (Photo not from the incidents mentioned above)Β Β #sharkwatch #floridasharks #sharks #protectsharks #hammerheadshark #blacktipshark #oceanadvocate #sharkadvocate #animaladvocate #wildlife #marinelife https://www.instagram.com/p/CCwUCdRhTFO/?igshid=17jkeombpcnmi
