Today, I felt a natural inclination to do protection work. Not because anything necessarily felt wrong in the moment but because I've realized that magic isn't only about responding. It's also about getting ready, safeguarding, and protecting the energy we've laboured so diligently to build. I wanted to centre myself and take ownership of my space as holy, and the tool I reached for? Something really, really simple and really, really underutilized: salt.

Salt has been utilized throughout cultures for centuries as a protection against negative energy and a means of cleansing environments. It's an emblem of the Earth element—grounding, cleansing, stabilizing. There's strength in its simplicity, particularly when combined with intention. I began by establishing a peaceful environment in my bedroom. I turned off most of the lights, lit a tiny white candle, and cradled a pinch of sea salt in my hand. As I focused, I pictured a safeguarding glow encasing me softly as a veil of gentle light. I proceeded to my window and door. my house's energetic portals and poured the salt slowly along the entrances. As I did so, I whispered softly a spell I had composed for the occasion: "With this salt, I draw the line. No harm may cross, no ill may bind.". This house is consecrated; this place is mine. So, mote it be, sealed by intent."

As soon as I'd done it, I took a deep breath and sensed that something had altered. Not dramatic—but there was absolutely no doubt that it had. The energy was lighter, and I felt more connected emotionally. I didn't feel scared or tense I felt strong. It was as if I'd re-drawn the line of where I stop and the world starts. I knew that protection magics wasn't about keeping everything out. It was about respecting your space, your energy, and your right to be in peace. There is magic in taking that back quietly.

Something I'm discovering as I dive further into my practice is that witchcraft can be powerful without being complicated or pretty. Even the most mundane objects—such as salt—are made sacred when you do something with them. The magick is in the intention. And today, my intention was clear: I guard my energy. I maintain my peace. This space belongs to me.

(Because we don’t do stagnant energy over here. It’s time to cleanse, reset, and step into our full power.)

🌿 Base Ingredients (A must!):

Epsom Salt – Relieves stress, soothes aches, and spiritually clears stagnant energy.

Pink Himalayan Salt (optional but luxe) – Detoxes negativity, amplifies self-love.

🌸 Floral Add-Ins (Pick what calls to you):

Rose Petals – For self-love and attracting blessings.

Lavender – To keep your peace and intuition on 10.

Chamomile – For deep relaxation and calling in lucky breaks.

Sunflower Petals – To boost confidence and glow-up energy.

💎 Crystals (Place them around the tub, NOT in the water if they’re not water-safe!):

Black Tourmaline – Blocks negativity, protects your energy like a spiritual bodyguard.

Citrine – Calls in money, success, and prosperity.

Amethyst – Keeps you spiritually aligned and connected to your intuition.

Clear Quartz – Boosts the energy of everything else.

🔥 Candles (Pick one or mix it up):

White – For pure cleansing and renewal.

Gold or Yellow – To attract success and happiness.

Purple – For power, wisdom, and high vibes.

🍯 Extra Luxuries (If you’re feeling fancy):

Honey or Brown Sugar – Sweetens your energy, attracts positive people and experiences.

Orange or Lemon Slices – To refresh your aura and bring fast, lucky opportunities.

Coconut Milk or Almond Milk – For softness, goddess vibes, and deep spiritual nourishment.

🔮 Setting the Mood & Intentions:

Before running your bath, cleanse your space with incense, palo santo, or Florida Water.

Light your candles and dim the lights—set the vibe.

Press play on “Fluid” and let the sound move through you.

As the bath fills, hover your hands over the water and say: “I release what’s heavy, I welcome what’s divine. My energy is cleansed, my path is open, my blessings flow easily.”

💦 The Ritual:

Step into the water like you’re stepping into your higher self.

Take some salt in your hands and scrub from your feet up—let all the old energy dissolve away.

Let the flowers float around you, feel them recharging your spirit.

Hold your crystal (if using) and speak your desires into it—tell it what you’re calling in.

Close your eyes and soak—visualize golden light surrounding you, sealing in your protection and abundance.

Pat dry, don’t rinse—let that magic stay on you.

Pour a little of your bathwater at your front door to invite blessings in.

Put on something cozy and soft—feel yourself glowing.

Every time you shower after this bath, repeat: “I am cleansed, I am protected, I am abundant. Everything I need comes to me with ease.”

Warding is most often used in either a personal sense, or a spatial sense, let’s do a deep dive into what that actually means

SPATIAL WARDING ~~~~~

Spatial wards are put on SOMETHING or a PLACE/SPACE/NON HUMAN THING with the intention to protect it. This could be warding your room or entire house by contacting the egregore, this could be casting a circle when you are about to do a spell, etc etc. This is not the same as warding a piece of jewelry though, that goes into the next type of warding: Personal Warding

PERSONAL WARDING ~~~~

Personal wards are created with the intent to protect a person (most likely YOU, the practitioner). These are most often portable/wearable like jewelry or in some cases crystals! A lot of the time, you can create some wards to be both personal and spatial, in essence killing two birds with one stone

So I recently posted a beginner banishment spell, and so to go along side that I am posting an herbal protection jar.

For this spell, you'll need...

-Jar

-Incense

-Candle

-Lighter

-Mugwort

-Bay leaf

-Cloves

-Black peppercorn

-Rosemary

-Sea salt

-Black salt

Cast a magick circle, light your incense and cleanse yourself, your space and all your materials. Make sure to cleanse the lid of the jar as well. Meditate with your herbs, focusing your intention into each one. Then one by one start adding the herbs and salts while saying your intent with each one. Light your candle, close your jar and seal with the hot wax. Focus again on your intent, this time on the whole jar. Visualize yourself being protected. Take down your circle and place your jar some place where it will always be close to you. Maybe on a night stand by your bed.
