The prophetic tradition was never about the vindication of the prophet. The hard word the prophets delivered was always on behalf of the people being injured, holding out hope that the powerful would turn around and go another way.

The Righteousness of a Few Cannot Save a Nation! (Ezekiel 13-14)
Today’s Scripture reading is Ezekiel 13-14. In chapter 13, Ezekiel focused on false prophets when the LORD commanded him to “prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy” (Ezekiel 13:2). Through His prophet, the LORD warned the false prophets, “Behold, I am against you” (Ezekiel 13:8). Ezekiel 14 focused on those living in Babylon during the captivity. We read that “certain of the elders of Israel” came to the prophet and hypocritically proposed they were coming to seek a word from the LORD. Rather than entertain the elders’ hypocrisy, Ezekiel called them to repent of their idolatry.

Today’s Scripture reading is Ezekiel 12. After Ezekiel witnessed visions warning that God's judgment was imminent (Ezekiel 11:21), the prophet began to tell the people all the LORD had shown him about Jerusalem's fate (Ezekiel 11:25). In Ezekiel 12, the prophet warned that the day was approaching when the LORD's righteous anger would be expressed in His judgment.
