A sheepish grin quickly crept up on Yasuhiroâs face as he strode into the clinic. Without a care in the world, he placed his bookbag on the table next to her and pulled out a heart-shaped box. Next to it was a hefty jar that he could barely fit around one hand. His voice carried the energy of a young boy waiting to show off his beetle collection.
âSee, um, I still feel kinda bad about Red Day so..I thought Iâd get you a few things to make up for it!â Yasuhiro gestured to the box, explaining that he prepared his special cocoa bread. His own spin on a family recipe, no less! As for the jar, he explained, contained manuka honey. His mother, a nurse, had told him as a child that honey was used in dressing bandages. Mikan was adept at dressing them as, and could perhaps could use them for something of her own. If not, then she may find it just as fine as an ingredient. âSome honey for a âhoneyâ, yâknow!â he concluded, chest puffed out slightly.
There was a moment of slight hesitation in Mikanâs features as she processed the gifts being presented to her. She recalled heâd been rather dismissive when sheâd offered her own box of chocolate on Valentineâs day but she assumed it was because he hadnât expected the gift from her. Theyâd only really spoken a handful of times before and neither had seemed remotely interested in the other. But Mikan had decided that she wanted to make as many friends as she could this year, so what a better way to make friends than through sickly sweets?
âOh, you made this?â She asked. Her curiosity had gotten the better of her and sheâd already opened the box, looking over the baked goods. âI didnât know y-you could b-bake H-Hagakure. Thatâs impressive!â
The honey intrigued her as well. Manuka honey could be rather expensive and rare to find. The fact that heâd brought her a huge jar of it had her slightly panicked. Heâd probably spent a lot of money on it! âAh... Th-thank you,â she added. âY-you didnât need to g-get me anything. But I r-really appreciate it.â
She paused, looking over the cocoa bread again. âMay I t-try some?â She asked.
