If I'm applying for the writer position could I send in a sample with 1.5k words, but only one instead of the 3?

Short answer: you can send in anywhere between 1-3 samples of your work. Try to keep your combined word count below 3k.
Long answer: with more than one sample provided we can get a better idea for your overall writing style, which can give you an edge if it comes down between you and another candidate.

Can I apply for more than one position?
Yes you may!
It can be very beneficial to those who are thinking they'll be able to do more than one position, as it'll increase your chances of getting picked!
Just know that we're only planning on giving out one position per person at the moment.

Can I ask how the selection process works ?
Sure!
It greatly depends on the role people are applying for, but in the case of the latest few application periods (including this one), it's followed a similar routine of:
Looking at everyone's portfolios -> us noting who catches our eye, discussing back and forth with each other as to who fits a role better -> having a meeting to finally decide on who gets what roles -> noting down those that didn't quite make it but would be great pinch hitters.
Sometimes the process is easy, sometimes it's very hard because there are so many brilliant people but only so many open spots :(

How long does it usually take to choose new people for specific roles etc. ? I get that they'd probably be different estimated times!!
That entirely depends on what role we are hiring for, and the number of applicants we get—reviewing 30 writers’ fics is going to take a lot longer than reviewing 15 art portfolios, for example. Sometimes our job is made easier by a handful of standout applicants, and other times we’re blessed with so many amazing people that the final choice is a lot harder to make!
With this round of applications, we’re estimating it’s going to take us about a week to decide who to bring on board! If you’re interested in the details of our selection process, please feel free to let us know :D
