Can I ask how the selection process works ?
It greatly depends on the role people are applying for, but in the case of the latest few application periods (including this one), it's followed a similar routine of:
Looking at everyone's portfolios -> us noting who catches our eye, discussing back and forth with each other as to who fits a role better -> having a meeting to finally decide on who gets what roles -> noting down those that didn't quite make it but would be great pinch hitters.
Sometimes the process is easy, sometimes it's very hard because there are so many brilliant people but only so many open spots :(
