When I wrote what is still my latest book (two and a half years later...), I had all sorts of characters that were significant enough to mention by name, but insignficant enough that I didn't feel like I needed to decide on their names right away, so I marked their names this way: "blah blah blah" [number] said.
and so, I accidentally created the best sentence in literature:

can't i just keep on writing the fun and games?? i should be nearing the midpoint but holy shit do i dread it. but also my characters didn't have any time to develop just quite and 4k more words isn't going to cut it.
