In this project we had to chose a character from any story origin such as folklore or Greek Mythology and adding a form of modern twist to the redesigns. I chose to focus with Norse Mythology and focusing on a lesser known concept which for this I will simply refer to it by the translation name of 'Familiar Spirit'. In a basic summary, these 'Familiar Spirits' are female guardians which act as guides to whoever the person is through improving luck and happiness while taking the form of their animal spirit, they can also be passed on through decendents.

This fact is important as my modern interpretation will be focused on a modern day descendent of someone during the time of Norse meeting their 'Familiar Spirit' in a dream as they can appear during dreams.

I first had concept sketches that I refined the best concepts with a posca pen to generate ideas for what could be included in both characters.

With design ideas generated, I created more refined sketch ideas of the full designs with a vast range of poses and close ups which I had in mind that I could potentially use within the final piece. I had notes next to them simply for reference.

After completing these designs concepts, I refined them digitally by redrawing the lines in Adobe Photoshop and added colour and effects with Adobe Photoshop. To add more life, I gave them official names just to feel more connected with them.

I then did some character expression work; Sketches the main expressions I felt they would use the most, refined the linework and added colour with Adobe Illustrator.

To end this post, I created profile sheets to display the important information I had about them so that they felt more realistic where a potential audience can enjoy.

The next post will go over the work that went into the final piece creation of the narrative piece.

Part 2

I was having a bit of trouble keeping track of all the information for each character in “In Stars and Time” the video game, so I went onto the wiki and compiled the basic details of each character! I did little doodles of each of their spites as well, so it’s easier to understand! None of this information is mine! It’s just put in an easier way for everyone to quickly check some info for their stories! I included each character’s nicknames for each other, where they are from, and their starter weapons. I ran out of room for Bonnie and the other characters, although I’m planning to make them a sheet too.

I feel like I should start writing in this blog by first introducing my mc , Madeline.

Madeline Claudia orionswan was born on 5th of November 1972 to Irene orionswan (née Burke) and Henry orionswan. She was their second and last natural child after a son named Jacob Henry orionswan.

Early childhood years:

As a child Madeline was a colourful kid. Having come to the world seven years after her brother, she was alone for most of her early childhood while he attended Hogwarts. She would always be at the mansion grounds playing around with her brothers creatures or acting as if she were duelling. She always had a way with her aunt Julianna, who, unfortunately would be banished from the family when Madeline was 7. After that ,Madeline had no companion except for the creatures and sometimes her brother, even though she lost him as well, temporarily, at the age of 9. Her family had dark history, being ardent followers of lord voldemort, but she never fell to their ways of dark regency and pure blood supremacy.

Appearance:

Height: 5'5"

Skin tone : fair but not quite pale

Colour of hair - Chestnut Brown.

Eyes - Chocolate Brown.

Blood status : half blood

Magical articles in her possession :

1st Wand : hornbeam wood, 11 inches, dragon heartstring.

My own wand is made of hornbeam, and so it is with all due modesty that I state that hornbeam selects for its life mate the talented witch or wizard with a single, pure passion, which some might call obsession (though I prefer the term ‘vision’), which will almost always be realised. Hornbeam wands adapt more quickly than almost any other to their owner’s style of magic, and will become so personalised, so quickly, that other people will find them extremely difficult to use even for the most simple of spells. Hornbeam wands likewise absorb their owner’s code of honour, whatever that might be, and will refuse to perform acts – whether for good or ill – that do not tally with their master’s principles. A particularly fine-tuned and sentient wand.

As a rule, dragon heartstrings produce wands with the most power, and which are capable of the most flamboyant spells. Dragon wands tend to learn more quickly than other types. While they can change allegiance if won from their original master, they always bond strongly with the current owner. The dragon wand tends to be easiest to turn to the Dark Arts, though it will not incline that way of its own accord. It is also the most prone of the three cores to accidents, being somewhat temperamental.

2nd Wand: Cedarwood, 11 3/4th inches, Dragon heartstring :

Whenever I meet one who carries a cedar wand, I find the strength of character and unusual loyalty. My father, Gervaise Ollivander, used always to say, ‘you will never fool the cedar carrier,’ and I agree: the cedar wand finds its perfect home where there is perspicacity and perception. I would go further than my father, however, in saying that I have never yet met the owner of a cedar wand whom I would care to cross, especially if harm is done to those of whom they are fond. The witch or wizard who is well-matched with cedar carries the potential to be a frightening adversary, which often comes as a shock to those who have thoughtlessly challenged them.

Patronus: Lioness (she's a badass queen 😂)

Prophecy

Madeline discovered during her 5th year that she had a prophecy that connected her to the cursed vaults of Hogwarts. The prophecy goes as follows :

"A young child much ignored among it's kind, finds love within others. Thee discovers it's connection with a vault of many secrets and powers. Fighting and struggling, the child in the end returns to its origins at last".

The prophecy shows how much Madeline was hated by her parents and ancestors and yet she was loved by her friends. It shows her how much she struggles and fights against the vaults, but in the end it is implied that Madeline must die at the clutches of the vault. But in the end Madeline survives the vault and sacrifices R to the vault for the better, thus destroying the vault. The prophecy shattered as soon as Madeline escaped the vault, but that's a story for next time 🙃 .

Hogwarts years

Mirror of Erised: she sees her grandfather smiling along with jacob and Rowan alive and well. She also sees her friends(mostly Charlie) along with her. She feels safe and warm and is smiling.

Boggart form: herself turned evil.

Riddikulus form: Her owl sleeping on her head. And snoring 😂.

Worst nightmare: TERRIFIED of the people she loves leaving her.

Best dream: Having a happy and for once normal life at Hogwarts and not being on the being on the verge of death all the time. (although that remains a dream)

From the moment that Madeline stepped into the streets at diagon alley she felt lost and alone, people turned their heads to see the young girl and judged her quite harshly though they said nothing. The judgement would continue on throughout her life but during her Hogwarts tenure it was the harshest. Luckily, Madeline had an amazing group of best friends to help her and look out for her. They all were unique and kept in touch for the rest of their lives. Sadly, Madeline lost her best friend Rowan Khanna to a dark witch during their sixth year. Those were, tough times, but she eventually recovered from it with the help of her best friends. Not to seem vain, but Madeline was also a great friend, she would do anything she could for her friends and often blamed herself if something happened to them. Madeline was an average student. Her best subjects were charms, defense against the dark arts and care of magical creatures. she, like most Gryffindors, was not liked by the head of Slytherin and potions professor, Severus Snape (hence the terrible marks during her NEWTs and her OWLs😒). she was also terrible at herbology, always putting wrong potions in the wrong pots. in her later years at Hogwarts she finally found her lost brother Jacob and they tried to make up for their lost time. their time was cut short by his untimely death (sad😢). Madeline was also a chaser for her team which she loved. she went on to become prefect during her fifth year(although she isn't sure how with the number of rules she broke🤷‍♂️😉). her favorite professors were Albus Dumbledore, Minerva McGonagall and Flitwick

Social life :

Madeline was not a very sociable person at the beginning. Coming from a family with dark origin, people expected her to be like them..

Evil and we're terrified or hated her . But eventually she becomes famous by the end of her first year as a good person, thus finally being able to show herself. She isn't a person who craves parties but she does love attending them. She also loves talking to people,(and sometimes rant).

Right after Hogwarts Madeline becomes an auror with her best friend tonks. They soon rise to the top and become Moody's apprentices. Madeline has a long distance relationship with non other than Charlie Weasley. They both soon move in together at Romania in 1993. Those are the best years of their relationship. But due to the war during 1997 Madeline acts as a double agent for the order of the pheonix and lives at Hogwarts as a death eater. After the war Charlie and Madeline get married in the year 2000 after a decade long relationship. Madeline is made a senior auror and earns an order of Merlin. The couple have 3 kids

Twin girls, Isabella Rowan Weasley, Sophia Molly Weasley and a son Drake William Weasley. Charlie later has his own sanctuary at England's country side and the family moves there. Madeline remains an auror even during her later years. She teaches at Hogwarts for sometime as the duelling master. She eventually dies of old age just as she had wanted to.

Legion Has Appeared

I wanted to post a reference piece of my Legion design, but also wanted to have some fun with it instead of just posting my actual reference sheet I have for them.  So I went with a character profile sheet!
