🌱 This is the sculpting process for the base doll from which two sisters were born.

🌙✨ Some of these pics I took as I worked , often at night and with my working lamp as only light source, mostly to find out what she looked like in camera.

🌞 Others I sent eager and excited to my friends showing them my progress, amazed that her joints actually fit and moved properly.

I started working on them about 5 years ago with considerable hiatus between them.

How My Brain Works #1 / Cómo Funciona Mi Cerebro #1 I came across this huge hanging acrylic sculpture recently at a museum and immediately fell in love with it. It’s massive, chaotic, beautiful, and honestly something I would put in my living room if I could.

I went to the museum looking for inspiration for my abstract photography, and this diptych feels like a pretty honest glimpse into how I work. I see something interesting, and then through movement, light, layering, and technique, I try to translate the energy of the experience rather than just document the object itself.

Hace poco me encontré con esta enorme escultura colgante de acrílico en el museo y me encantó de inmediato. Es gigantesca, caótica, hermosa y sinceramente algo que tendría en mi living si pudiera.

Estaba trabajando en las estructuras para mí siguiente nieta cuando vi esto y pense...

Sería un crimen no terminar lo que empesé... 😈

A veces me pasa que no sé qué hacer y me pongo a ver qué están haciendo los demás. Entro en esa de compararme y pensar que todo lo que hago es una mierda entonces mejor ni lo intento. Me da miedo, me tiro abajo y no hago nada. Tengo hermosamente aceitado mi autoboicot.

Pero me dí cuenta de que lo que tengo que hacer es justamente hacer. Tengo que concentrarme en mis cosas y hacerlas. Concentrarme en el proceso y disfrutarlo. Trabajar la frustración y practicar hasta que salga como quiero. Valorar mis ideas y mi trabajo. Y sí algunas cosas me gustarán más y otras menos, y está perfecto. Así es la vida.
