when I was biolittle I used to HATE the song You Are My Sunshine because I thought it was really really sad and the concept of someone taking anyone's sunshine away made me bawl my eyes out. And I HATE crying because it makes my face physically hurt. Like actual pain. I still can't hear it without tearing up a little and I have to stay away from it which sucks bc I've seen some super cute toys who play that song so I can't get them :[ random triggers unrelated to trauma suck the most because I have genuinely no idea why or what to do about it. It's just always been a quirk of mine that I can't stand that song

Essentially the general avoidance almost all of them have. Linc basically ignoring his dad the last time they saw each other, Normal in general seems to be so angry at Sparrow (probably Lark to, but again that’s a different post), Scary just straight up denying that Terry is anything to her and siding with Willy, and just the way Taylor interacts with Nick.

It feels like we are getting this twisted version of the perspectives of the kiddads childhoods, Normals rage at Sparrow/Larks rage at Henry, Terrys denial of Ron/Scary’s denial of Terry, Grant blocking off his feeling from darrly/Linc blocking his feelings from grant, Glenn ignoring some obvious pains Nick may have/ Nick ignoring some obvious pains that Taylor may have.

The difference is solely in the motivations behind why each kid acts this way, and in the case of all of them. Their direct attempts to prevent what happened to them happening to their children, failed. I would love to see the kiddads come in and just magically fix their own mindsets and then their children’s issues, but from a place in the narrative I only think Terry and Grant is even slightly capable of doing that. And even then I can make arguments that they very much aren’t. The sad thing about that is that they may never be, especially in the case of both Nick and Lark.

Note: My massage therapist last night was very concerned by how cold my hands were. Like honey, they weren’t even as cold as they get.

Lance squealed and immediately covered his mouth at the sound that escaped him without his consent. His eyes widened and he felt his chest heave up and down. Looking back, he saw Barbatos smirking with his tail swishing back and forth.

"Your tail is cold!” Lance whined. “And wet.”

Barbatos tilted his head. “I thought you liked my tail.”

“I do! But give me some warning and don’t rub it against the back of my neck like that.” Lance shivered as he still felt the damp, chilly sensation on his skin. Goosebumps quickly rose. He eyed the demon’s tail. “Does it hurt when it’s that cold?”

“No, it’s supposed to be like that.” The demon’s amusement never left his face.

“Good. I’ll get my revenge,” Lance warned.

Barbatos stepped forward and pressed a kiss to the human’s forehead. “I look forward to it.”
