I'm interested in your thoughts on RPFs of minors, if you don't mind
generally, i am pro-RPF. i believe that RPF (not including RPF of minors) is only harmful or unethical when RPF creators refuse to keep their works separate from who they're writing about. some public figures may be fine with it, and that's great for them, but that doesn't mean that fandom spaces should make a habit of showing people RPF created about them. it's rude, at best, and sexual harassment at worst. when it comes to RPF of minors, i think there's nuance β and when i say nuance, i don't mean "writing smut about minors is Actually Fine", because i personally believe that minors (public figure or otherwise) should never be sexualised by strangers on the internet (note: shotas/lolis are not minors, so sexualising shotas/lolis is completely okay. the problem with RPF of minors is that those minors may be harmed, not that it's "gross". lolis/shotas cannot be harmed, so they have no place in this conversation).
that being said, i don't think this content is CSAM.
at the end of the day, it is fiction. the minor in question is not being sexually abused by fanfiction, and there's also no guarantee that the minor in question will even see what's been written about them, which makes the risk of harm very slim. there's also the fact of censorship β fiction should never be censored, even RPF of minors.
if the minor in question sees what's been written and they or their carers want to take legal action? they are fully within their right to do so. however, i don't think that RPF of minors should be banned or the creators of such content should be burnt at the stake, even if i do think it has the capacity for harm and is generally inappropriate.
