Personally, I don’t have any problem with rpf, and read it myself so if I did have a problem I’d be a hypocrite, but do think that it is disrespectful when a person or group specifically states that they are uncomfortable and people still don’t stop. I also think it’s disrespectful if you show a person or group rpf that you’ve written of them without their consent or whilst knowingly crossing a boundary.
As someone who literally had gay RPF about me and my best friend written about me (technically no longer gay/ possible bc I realized Im a transfem lesbian later down the line), unless the person has said they're comfortable with it, its morally fine unless u show it/ tell the person. You aren't hurting anyone by doing it
I also had a crush on the girl who wrote it. And she had a crush on my best friend. We were all friends and it was a mess lmfao

you are just writing about the person you think celebrities are, which is vaguely based on their PUBLIK perception — and that can’t be further from these people’s real personas. The reason you can even write rpf characters based on real people is because you don’t know them, and you will involuntarily change even the vaguely known details about them, because it’s fanfic — and c mon, go adjust them blorbos, don’t you wanna scrimblo be that so it will be more interesting when there’s gonna be one bad. At this point, he is an oc that just has the same hair color as chon huk.

Which… if you really think that you know your favorite YouTuber that well, that’s a level of parasociality that is alarming. Celebrities are not your friends, you don’t know them, and the sooner you understand that the better, because I will not go too deep into the fact that just blatantly trusting everything people on the screen say because they are pretty, without consideration of the source and understanding of the motive, is a concept that has the potential to endanger you.
Playing devil’s advocate: the only evidence to kinda back the second part of this bullshit up is when some public figure specifically REQUESTS not to write any rpf about them, which triggers a Streisand effect 😭😋 Because number one — the internet doesn’t give a fuck.
