#pro aang

I wanted to hear your take on the part of the movie where Aang tells katara she doesn't understand when she's urging him to turn back. Bcz I've seen Aang haters mentioning how he was wrong for that and she does understand bcz she's the last water bender in the southern tribe but I don't agree with it bcz she's not the last water bender in the world. Meanwhile, Aang is the very last airbender. I don't want to minimise Katara's suffering as I know it was great but her situation is no where near the same as his. So I just wanted to know your view.

Crazy how tropes like 'he would chose you over the world' or 'a man who yearns' are super loved and popular in general, but when it comes to Aang it's suddenly problematic and used as an argument on why Kataang is ''''toxic'''' and/or a bad ship.

I’m sorry but that Milkshake person particularly must watched Avatar with their eyes and ears closed if they think Aang also won’t use the One Wish Willow to end the war. Hell, that’s one of the reasons Aang and Zuko became friends in canon.

I just saw a zutara fan saying that they never said that Aang was a rapist. Can you pull up the screenshot of them basically saying that Aang is Bear and that he made Katara a baby incubator?

It’s really funny to me when I see Aang antis slandering him and claiming the gaang carried him. Ummmm…. if it weren’t for Aang, literally none of the gaang members would have ever become the great benders and nonbenders they grew into. If Aang had not come back to save Katara and Sokka at the very beginning of the show, they would have been cooked. Katara would never have become the greatest waterbender without Aang’s help, because he was the one that opened the door for her to even learn from a master. The same is true for Sokka. He would have never met his master or become a true warrior like he’d wanted. Zuko would have died multiple times over, because it was Aang whom he had to thank for repeatedly saving his life when no one else cared to. Toph would have never even left her parents. The entire earth kingdom would have burned to the ground if Aang hadn’t stopped Ozai, and the world would have ended. Every single character in the gaang would have died during Sozin’s Comet, that is if they didn’t all die well before that point. Let’s not get it twisted 😂 the gaang absolutely helped Aang, but he was carrying everyone to victory. The entire show was all of them going on a life changing trip with Aang. Toph even said exactly what the show was about concerning Aang and the group -> “I think you really did help those kids. You taught them to be free.”

We’re almost in the big 2027 and people still think that Aang was right to give his love for Katara up and that his character never finished an arc because of the creator’s self insert fantasies where they just had to have Katara and Aang together even though he was narratively supposed to not be with her ig?? My brother in Christ, Aang was literally punished for giving his attachment to her up for the sake of the world and the world itself was PUNISHED for creating the scenario which would ultimately lead Aang to run from his responsibilities as the Avatar. He ran because they wanted to isolate him from everyone he loved and use him like a shield, transform him into a weapon of war and deny him his own humanity. He was never supposed to give his love for her up. He was never supposed to be used as a weapon of war by people who created the imbalance by pushing him into that corner. Yangchen even affirms toward the end of the show that Aang CANNOT do this, it’s not possible for the Avatar to sever their attachments to the world because the entire reason the Avatar exists is to serve it!
