Author Life Month 2021 Day 21: Bookish Prized Possessions When I was a newbie writer I went to my very first book conference called RT. Unfortunately, the conference no longer exists, but the event solidified my drive to be a writer. On book signing day, I went into this vast room and was overwhelmed by the sheer number of authors represented. As I walked around and talked to authors, my stomach tumbled. For the first time in a long while, I felt I was in a place I belonged. With people who felt the same passion for writing as I did. I wandered around the tables and spotted the YA section. There was a woman with beautiful blonde hair sitting behind a table and she had the cover of her first book set out in front of her. I took a copy off the stack and began to read the blurb and I was hooked. I presented the book to the author who was so kind and asked her to sign it. On the plane home, I would devour the entire book. That kind author happened to be Leigh Bardugo. And that book that blew me away? Of course it was Shadow and Bone! Another author I met that day I already knew. Iβd loved her debut, Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea. When I asked @apriltucholke to sign her book for me, she looked at my name tag and commented that she liked my last name-which you can see from the signature! On a funny side note, if you read Aprilβs Wink, Poppy, Midnight, you might see my last name pop up. It is one of the coolest things Iβve seen in my publishing life!π #authorlifemonth2021 #authorlifemonth #bookishlove #prizedpossession #bookishprizedpossession #yabooknerd #yabookshelf #yabookgeek #shadowandbone #betweenthedevilandthedeepbluesea #writerlife #yawriter #yawriterlife #yabookconference #yabookfestival #yabooklove #yasignedbooks #yawritersofinstagram #yawritersofig #storyteller #storytelling #youngadultfiction https://www.instagram.com/p/CN7z9SerAeH/?igshid=hxksnka89mza
