I am not immune to having KPop Demon Hunter sequel thoughts...
I present to you my very roughly thought out idea for a sequel movie
SO we have seen that demons do really DIE die, but doesn't seem to be something that happens often. and it's clearly more of a show of force, otherwise gwi-ma would have eaten them all up long ago. Also when Jinu gives his soul to Rumi, it functions like the same way the crowd's did, so we know that people 'giving their soul for the cause' so to speak doesn't lead to any ill effects on the side of the person doing the giving. AND we know from the previous examples that when a demon 'dies' in the human world they get poofed back to the demon realm (ie the flight attendant at the beginning of the film) so that means that Abby, Mystery and Jinu (it was the same animation for Jinu, just slower) should be back in the demon realms no problem (Baby and Romance both didn't 'die' so I will come back to them later)
SO my idea is as follows the second Jinu hits demon town once more, gwi-ma knows that he is a useful bargaining chip for potentially another scheme to get back into the human world, so instead of killing him Juni sticks into the dungeons. And guess who else is in the demon king's dungeon? RUMI'S DAD! So you have the parallel storylines of Rumi searching more into her demonic heritage, finding out what really happened to her mom and dad (if you want the girls to be hunting something now that the honmoon is sealed this is where you bring in Baby and Romance as a focus for Huntr/x as a whole, especially if they have info about demon realm that Rumi needs) contrasted with Jinu learning about how this demon fell in love with a hunter and had a kid and Jinu puts together the pieces that this is Rumi's father. Rumi's dad has no idea about the fate of his daughter, unsure if she's even still alive (in earlier draft of the movie, it was confirmed that Rumi's mom died because of Celine intervening, so it wouldn't have been a stretch that Rumi didn't make it either) and so now that he knows his daughter lives he is FAR more invested in escaping
You basically have these two forces, both of which are seeking each other. Rumi suddenly now trying to find her way into the demon realms after finding out that her dad is still alive, and Rumi's dad trying to break out into the human world to reunite with his daughter. Added points if Jinu picks up Mystery and Abby along the way as Rumi allies herself with Baby and Romance. ALSO telling Bobby is paramount, but I don't think it happens until he walks in on the girls interrogating the VERY OBVIOUSLY demonic remaining saja boys
All the while Derpy and Sussie are just desperately trying to get Rumi to a spot where they can transport her through the honmoon/honmoon weak spot/something but due to the fact that neither of them speak it's been a struggle. maybe the way through the honmoon is a song, like it's a lock and key situation? maybe you need people on both sides to do the singing, which is like, hmmm, so how do we get through, except derpy and sussie have brought jinu and co to the same spot in the demon realm, and through Rumi's connection to Jinu's soul, he also knows the song and is able to open it? donno…this bit is a little less solidly thought out
That way the theming of this can be around growing from the fallout of a parental figure being a toxic presence (Celine and her less than ideal parenting style, and how that's affected ALL of the girls) and rebuilding with family you didn't even know you had
