This week I’ve been looking ahead to my summer, and it’s starting to feel a little overwhelming. I’m planning on taking history and math classes at a community college near me to get some credits out of the way, working full-time at the country club I’ve worked at for the past few summers, starting an EMT course, and trying to find doctors to shadow. I know all of these things are important, especially for building experience and my resume as a pre-med student, on paper it sounds like a really productive summer. At the same time, putting it all together makes my schedule feel extremely full. It’s hard not to think about everything I might not have time for, like working out, spending time with friends, going to the beach, or visiting my grandparents. I want to stay focused and make progress, but I also don’t want to miss out on enjoying my summer or feel completely burned out before the next semester even starts.
