so today, i had the joy of attending a gem expo. i only got to go for a couple hours because i had to leave for work, but it was a fantastic experience, and one i’d definitely recommend if you ever have the chance! not only did i get to chat with other mineral enthusiasts and see some fantastic specimens, i picked up some new beauties for my own collection!
firstly, a septarian sphere. locality unknown.
it’s got a little flat spot on the bottom, so it’s able to sit nicely without a stand!!
i’ve been wanting a septarian for a while now and we all know i’m a hoe for spheres, so i saw an opportunity and took it.
secondly, an absolutely fabulous rutilated quartz from brazil!
the rutile threads in this are sooooo flashy, and the quartz is so clear so looking at it is just amazing!
i’m so glad i managed to get my grubby little hands on this beauty lol
finally, a pair of opals from australia
these were actually a gift from one of the vendors, a darling australian gentleman named ron
he saw how i was gushing over the opals he’d brought and i guess he was just excited to see someone who loves these stones as much as he does, because when i picked these two little ones out (i only had $20 and wanted to save some since he was the first vendor i visited lol) he closed my fingers around them, patted my hand, and told me they were a gift and to enjoy them
i’ll definitely be stopping by to visit ron again next year (hopefully with more cash in my pocket)!!
i’ll have to get better pictures of the opals tomorrow, because my camera flash absolutely obliterates them lol
