I saw someone got a pre-ban tiger pelt that was originally a rug.  They took the felt backing off of it and now want to mount the head.  My issue is that this pelt is 40+ years old and was someone's rug back then so it probably hasn't be stored properly and that leather that old will be unstable for sure.  I'm fearing that they are going to try to mount it themselves and end up ruining the pelt or do such a poor job that leaving it as it was originally would have been the safer thing to do.

Personally I told them to contact an professional taxidermist and see if they can mount it or at least get advice on if the project can be possibly done.  To add, I know from my experience that as much as we want every pelt to mount up, sometimes that dream is not possible and I know a lot of the exist pre-ban tiger pelts are just too old to handle a mounting attempt.
