We'll be in the same building as before in downtown Colorado Springs, but it's just got a new name - The Hall. 📘📙📓 You can find The Hall down W. Pikes Peak Ave. behind the Penrose Library off of Cascade Ave. Turn into the Antlers' Garage Penrose Public Library Parking, and the entrance to The Hall will be at the back of the lot. Once inside, you can follow the signage in the building via elevator or stairs (it's a bit of a maze, but just keep going) to get to the zine market on the 3rd floor. Time to introduce ourselves (the organizers) again! There's historically only been 2 of us running PPZF, & we’re excited to have some extra hands on deck this year! 📘📙📓 Jennifer Eltringham (she/her) is one of the Founders & Organizers of Pikes Peak Zine Fest. Jennifer uses zines in her work as a librarian, where she gets to talk to students about information, print culture, and why it all matters. She also takes every opportunity she can get to yell about the moon and possums, North America’s only native marsupial. She makes mostly perzines as @princess_soopers - she anticipates that her magnum opus will be a zine ode to chicken nuggets. 📘📙📓 Kels Choo @kookookchoo (she/they) is one of the Founders & Organizers for Pikes Peak Zine Fest. Originally from Hawai‘i (not Hawaiian tho), Kels started making zines in college in Chicago, and has been a full-time independent artist in Colorado Springs since 2017. Kels works as a self-publisher of comics/illustration, and has been exhibiting at small press events for the past 10 years. Beyond comics, they enjoy eating good food, tending to their plants, and the company of animal friends. Their favorite zines are about creatures; real or mythical. 📘📙📓 Liz Brown (she/her) joined the Pikes Peak Zine Fest Organizer this year. She is a librarian with a love for all things risograph. Originally hailing from Baltimore, MD, she occasionally writes dispatches from library conferences in a zine series called Notes from a Sub-Sub. She is the slow hiker who likes to pick up rocks to check for critters. She is also passionate about comics, creative reuse, games, Halloween, puppetry, and snail mail. @lilibet_wenge (Instagram) 📘📙📓

📖🔸🔷So What is a Zine Anyway?🔷🔸📖 This is for all the newbies out there who heard about us and have been wondering this very question. Welcome to the wonderful world of zines! 🤗 ✨📕📙📒📗📘📓✨ 📘📙📓 Zines (short for magazine) are self-published books! They can be made in a variety of formats that my not look like a typical book, can contain images or text or any combination of the two, & may hold any variety of content from history or activism to something as simple as a zine about your pet (which both organizers Jennifer & Kels have done). Folx use collage, comics, illustration, photography, design, articles, poetry, prose, & more to fill the pages of their zines. Usually they have a small print run of less than 1000 copies (probably due to being made by hand) & the use of the photocopier has strong ties to the process of zine making. 📘📙📓 Zines have technically been around since the time of leaflets & the invention of printing, but the term was popularized more recently with the rise of fandoms (particularly sci-fi). Before the internet, zines were an analog way for niche & underground communities to share news, art, & events. Plus, they're a fun creative way to express yourself! 📘📙📓 Come on out to Pikes Peak Zine Fest on Saturday, Oct 7 (1-5p) @ PPLD's The Hall (20. W.
