"I *Rebuke* You In The Name Of Jesus!"
Pow!'s deep understanding doesn't stop at the native american diversity.
The video game is depicted as different, a wall made for comfort, not hate. I don't know much about US indian colonization. I can only speak for the symbology of my country's indigenous past, and even not much. I have been completely separated from my indigenous and black culture.
No one bullies or judges the main character for being different or uncomfortable. I have been a black hoodie wearing child. My comfort was games, even if they didn't represent colonialists as villains (not this directly at least)
The love I have for my unknown and known indigenous and black family purely for their strength of surviving and fighting for their lives will always be in my heart.
One day I hope I can connect to my other cultures aside from the one I already feel part of (Italian) even as a Brazilian, I feel disconnected from everyone.
Neurodivergency is hard, even between people that look like you (I look like your stereotypical latine, I have black and indigenous traits but my skin is light), they'll treat you different. I never liked that I was forced to be in white spaces, I suffered segregation, racism, harassment and adultification due to being the darkest/having black traits in my class. I understand my father wanted the best for me and I'm sure my black family is proud of me for being a psychology student and having privileges due to my white family, but I feel like a part of me is missing.
Although this animation is for those that still are part of the culture, but feel disconnected for other reasons (neurodivergency) [and it's so nice everyone accepts him regardless] people like me (who got their non white culture erased from their life) still resonate with it, especially the nerds and alternatives.
Please watch the animation. The voices of people of color, especially indigenous people are extremely important.
