A cocktail stick is often the best little tool to use, normally I work with my face about six inches from my pottery but if I film it I have to find a compromise distance where I can see what I'm doing but allows the camera some space (and keeps my head out of the shot!). I've got a pretty good set-up but sometimes it just gets in the way! I've thought of suspending a canera from the ceiling to get rid of the tripod, that's something for another day. 🙂 This jug was made from terracotta clay and covered in a white slip to give me the plain canvas I need to illustrate. I think the jug will hold about three pints once it's been fired, thinking some straight sided water beakers would go well with this. Some results from a weekend with @clivebowenceramics at everyone's favourite ceramics school, @claycollege proves there is still much to learn in my quest for perfect pottery 🐾 Stoke-on-Trent is the historic home of English ceramics, but as my fellow class-mates showed, there is talent all over the UK, especially in Devon, London, Kent(!)... yes, literally all over Britain creative original pottery is being made in small workshops and homes 🐾 My trip to Stoke yielded unexpected benefits (that's what happens when you actually manage to leave the house!). My visit to the @moorcroftpottery with its collection of work by founder William Moorcroft (rather different to its modern style) and discussions with expert @markdallyceramics tied in beautifully with the weekend's course 🐾 Mark Dally not only creates exhibition quality work, he also sells ultimate slip trailers that I believe are just what I need to add another dimension to my decorated, commissioned work. It was actually Clay College's creative director, @kgmillwardceramics who originally put me onto Mark's work.
