Loved doing this week for everyone, and as my first public participation of a ship week as a whole. (Name stolen from The Calendar by Panic at the disco)
Soon enough, the sun setting led into the nighttime. The house was bustling with friends and family helping Senshi and Chilchuck get dinner ready. It’s a nightly occurrence when both the half foot and the dwarf didn’t want to eat alone. Laios with the help of PuckPatti were cutting the vegetables as Senshi watched over them, giving them tips on how to cut them properly. Chilchuck chuckled softly from his spot at the table, watching his family work together, proud of his daughters and how his life improved since the dungeon. “Are you gonna help, papa?” Flertom asked, walking up to him with a cup full of wine, “If you insist on me too” he replies, taking a sip from the cup. “I think ye should” Senshi chimes in, stepping away from the tall man and the youngest half foot daughter, “I think ye eldest and Izu need some help” “ok, ok, finee” Chilchuck jokes, getting up from his chair. “If you insist” he continues, making his way over to Meijack and Izutsumi, who were manning the wok. “You two can take a break” Chilchuck tells them, giving each of them a kiss on their cheeks, which Izutsumi sticks her tongue out at, “Geez old man” she whines, but takes up his offer to sit down. Meijack didnt move, “Papa, I don’t know if you should” she starts, “No, Mei, let me help, I haven’t lose my marbles just yet” Chilchuck cuts in, as he starts putting the cut vegetables into the wok, letting them brown. Meijack observes her father, on standby before taking her seat next to Izutsumi. The bustling kitchen soon quieted down as their food was ready, and with help from Marcille and Flertom, setting the table was easier for both Chilchuck’s old bones and felt nostalgic. Everyone at the table helped themselves as a glass clinked, signaling them to pay attention to the head of the table, as Chilchuck started to speak, “I know this is a tradition for all of us, but I wanted to announce that this may be the last”, everyone gasped, looking at each other before the half foot continued, “But this does not stop you from continuing it, from either gathering around for my birthday, My anniversary or my funeral, but this was the best thing that could happen to me” He smiles at the last part, tears welling in his eyes, “But I don’t regret any of this” he toasts, looking over at Senshi, who was crying at this point, “And I don’t regret meeting you” he whispered, almost a vow to Senshi only, “And I wanted everyone here to know, that I love you” Chilchuck finishes, as he started to eat, cuing everyone to dig into their meal, made from love and a feeling they will never forget.
