Day 2: Time Transfixed
My Cottage
Somewhere Only We Know

Summary: Benedict steals Sophie away at My Cottage for some alone time
The knock on her door didnât wake Sophieâa lifetime of early mornings making it impossible to sleep in, even in this ridiculously comfortable bedâbut it did surprise her. Who could possibly need her attention this early in the morning, and so urgently, from the sound of their knocks?
The answer, naturally, was Benedict, which wasnât at all surprising, except the part where he was up and about so early in the morning.
âGet dressed,â he instructed in that charmingly insistent way of his. âIâll be right back.â And then he was gone.
âGood morning to you too,â Sophie muttered to herself with bemusement, closing the door and proceeding to get dressed. There was no reason not to, and whatever Benedict was up to, well, she might as well be dressed appropriately.
Sure enough, moments after she had gotten herself into a blue dress and a wrap, there was another knock on the door. Once again she did not have the chance to utter a greeting before Benedict was taking her hand and pulling her along the hallway.
âBenedict, whatââ
âShh, we donât want anyone to hear us. Trust me?â
âAlways.â
Benedict shot her a warm grin. Sophieâs stomach fluttered. That grin of his was no less effective now that they were engaged. It was even more appealing, now that she didnât have to fight against the pull of him, not that sheâd ever had much luck with that. But it felt wonderful to surrender to her feelings, to allow herself to fall, knowing he would catch her.
They quickly, but quietly, made their way along the hall, down the stairs and out of the house. It was still dark out, the sun barely starting to rise.
âNow will you tell me what weâre doing?â She asked with a laugh, stopping to look at Benedict.
âWeâre running away together, of course.â The mischief in his expression told Sophie he was being playful, not attempting to race off to Gretna Green to elope. Which was good, because despite her excitement to be married, and her willingness to go anywhere with Benedict, she knew exactly where she wanted to get married. Right here, at My Cottage, where sheâd first fallen deeply in love with Benedict, the place where sheâd found her home, surrounded by all the people who loved and supported them.
But an adventure? Well, she was up for one of those.
âWhere are we going?â
âSomewhere special,â Benedict said with a wink, and Sophie knew exactly where. âCome on, before anyone comes along and tries to protect your virtue.â
âA little late for that.â
Benedict laughed. âUnfortunately I donât think informing anyone of that fact will have the desired result.â He pulled at her hand once more and Sophie ran with him, feeling so utterly free.
They didnât stop running until they made it to the lakeside, the exact spot where sheâd watched him swim from behind a tree. Not on purpose, mind you, no matter what Benedict said, but could anyone blame her for being transfixed? The powerful way he cut through the water was breathtaking, as was the fact that he came out of the water entirely naked.
Sophie was similarly breathless from their run, and then for an entirely different reason when Benedict pulled her into a kiss. It was reminiscent of their last kiss in this very spot, but instead of the rush of an almost first kiss, it was the desperate desire of coming back together after far too long.
A week could be considered a long time, could it not? That was how long it had been since theyâd had any privacy to kiss like this. There was always someone around to prevent anything more affectionate than hand holding, and theyâd been so busy theyâd had no chance of sneaking away. Sophie had missed it dearly, Benedictâs body pressed to hers, his hands touching her, holding her, his soft lips kissing her so greedily. Sophie tangled her hands in his hair, pulling him down and lifting up, needing to be closer, to eliminate any space between them.
Finally needing air, they pulled apart, their foreheads coming to rest against each other. For several moments they simply breathed, everything in Sophie settling. A tightness she hadnât realised she had been feeling unwound now that they had this moment to just exist together.
âI needed that,â Benedict whispered, lifting his head. âI havenât been able to get a single moment alone with you since we got here. Surrounded by nosy people who need to mind their own business.â
âYour family, you mean?â Sophie asked, brows raised, laughing.
âYes! When will they leave?â
âAfter the wedding, I believe.â
Benedict groaned, dropping his head on her shoulder dramatically. âThatâs an eternity.â
âFour weeks.â
âAs I said. Four weeks until weâre alone, until weâre married and I can kiss you anytime I want.â
âI know,â Sophie sighed, stroking her hand through his hair. He was being over dramatic and pouty, and it would make her laugh, except for the part where she felt entirely the same way.
If one week felt too long, four weeks was truly painful.
âI miss having you in my bed,â Benedict said when he lifted his head.
Sophie blushed, remembering their naked bodies intertwined, Benedict moving inside her so deeply, slow and measured and then faster and harder as their pleasure spiraled higher and higherâ
âTo sleep, but I miss that too,â Benedict grinned slyly. âStrange how keenly I feel your absence there when itâs occurred so infrequently.â
âI feel it, too. I miss having your arms around me like I know youâre supposed to be there.â
Benedict sighed. âSoon, Sophie. Weâll get through this hideous month and then weâll never spend a night apart.â
âNever is quiteââ
âNever.â
Sophie giggled. While she could envision the possibility of a time where they had to spend a night apart, she would never choose that either.
âBut for now, we have our own little place where no one will bother us for oh, a few hours. If weâre very lucky.â
Sophie looked around at the lake, the lush verdant bank, the riot of colours in the sky, and most importantly, back at Benedictâs smiling, handsome face. âItâs perfect.â
âI thought so.â Benedictâs smile became teasing. âWe can even go for a swim after it warms up a little. Or, if you prefer, I can swim and you can watch, I know how much you like that.â
âHow did I know you could not resist bringing that up? It was an accident, I did not know you would be here.â
âMmmm,â Benedict hummed. âBut you can admit it now, Sophie, you stayed because you liked what you saw.â
âWhy donât you admit that you wanted me to like it?â
âOh, I am happy to admit that. Why else do you think I asked you to fetch my shirt for me?â
Sophie shook her head, but was unable to entirely suppress the grin that was determined to break though her reproachful expression. âYou were a wicked, diabolical tease.â
Benedict laughed. âAnd you were so adorably flustered. And lovely. It was like lightning striking twice, the way I felt about you. I couldnât resist kissing you, even if I should have.â
âNeither could I. A bit of a problem of ours, wouldnât you say?â
âNot anymore,â he said against her lips, before their mouths joined once more, this time in a series of long and languorous kisses.
Eventually they settled on the grass, Sophie leaning back against Benedictâs chest as they watched the sun rise over the lake. They talked about everything and nothing, and basked in the comfortable silence of two people who didnât need to speak to feel connected.
After the sun was high in the sky, Benedict did strip off his clothesâSophie watching unabashedlyâbefore diving in the lake for a swim.
âAre you sure you have no desire to join me?â
âQuite sure. Iâm content to watch, and to warm you up when you return.â
Benedictâs eyes flared, and he swam away at a startling speed, splashing Sophie in the process.
âBenedict!â
His laughter could be heard even as he got further away, and Sophie grinned. She was so, so happy.
So my old Marcus design is basically useless post series. But then I remembered a dream I had a while back that sparked a theory. And i figured...I could still use this for something post canon >:)
Introducing TWIN AU
"Plagues of Woodwind"
Taking place a year or so after the events of the 3rd game, Rebecca meets a young man named Milon (Milo for short) who happens to be her long lost twin brother.
Rebecca Colton currently lives with Riley Park trying to reintegrate into society and put the traumatic past behind while attempting to live a normal life. Meanwhile in another state, a young man Milon Ascua (Milo for short) experiences the heavy sudden loss of his mother who passed due to unforeseen circumstances. In his grief he finds that his mother left behind information for him to find that ends up changing his life forever. He discovers that she actually worked for Hameln in the past but ran away, saving him as an infant from being a target. Not only that, he discovers that he has a twin sister out there. Having no family left Milo decides to go out and search for her. While meeting Rebecca did not go as planned, he was still happy to finally find his long lost sister. Little does he know that this fateful meeting will domino into a series of unfortunate events, forcing Riley, Rebecca, and Milo to face the plagues of corruption, otherworldly entities, and unresolved trauma.
Some info about each of them. (Subject to change)
Milon (aka Milo) Ascua
Lived with his adoptive mother outside of KDOH.
Hameln planned to kidnap him but they lost track.
His mother was actually part of the Hameln cult but became a turncoat who was trying to hide Milo from them.
His mom died in an "accident" but left him info saying that he does have a sister out there. After learning this he set off to find her. (Yes it is a parallel to Kate and Riley)
The name "Milon/Milo" means gracious/kind and apple treeđ
Rebecca Colton
Lives with Riley.
Still figuring out how to live her new life. Healing from trauma is hard but at least Riley is with her.
Knows Hameln is still out there and gets paranoid.
Has scars from rotting in the pod.
Gave her a lavender hoodie bc i think she mentioned in canon its her favorite color.
She is aware that she has some sort of power but has no idea where it comes from or how it works exactly.
She cut her hair herself.
I plan to cook more with this AU but I hope you like what you see so far and again its all subject to change.
Imagine mtmte Drift somehowing his way into the Shattered Glass universe
Mary Hayward: Tom, keep an eye on Ryder today. Heâs gonna say something to the wrong person and get himself punched.
Tom Hayward: Sure, Iâd love to see Ryder get punched.
Mary Hayward: Try again.
Tom Hayward: I will stop Ryder from getting punched.
Mary Hayward: Correct.

Happy endings are messy, and the Arctic winter is more difficult than either Stan or Ford want to admit.

Submitter's notes:
I loooove this fic. Really beautiful analysis of Stan in the first half and Ford in the second. Mind the tags, it can get pretty grim, but if you can handle it its wonderful

Buffy remembers a Spike who always said the things that scared her the most. She wonders if she beat that out of him. In which Buffy likes it when Spike knows sheâs been fucking someone else, but admitting it to herself is a different story. (Or: Buffyâs the last person to understand that thereâs no such thing as a normal life.)
