Walking With… Alice / @alicemarymusic ——— At the height of my hay fever, which makes for a very uncomfortable time for me, on a blisteringly hot day in June, I ventured to the Woodberry Wetlands. Alice appeared as I walked towards the east reservoir and looked very excited to be having her photo taken. Walking With… Géraldine / @gnmdesign ——— I think Géraldine is one of the first of a circle of friends that volunteered to be involved in my "Walking With.. Series" (see my feed for more). Géraldine is a talented graphic designer who has started her design studio, "Enem Studio", and I've worked with her in the past on a few photoshoots. I decided to head over to her neck of the woods, which happened to be Lea Valley Rowing club up in upper Clapton. I got the chance to explore the rowing club itself and found it a fantastic place. The light was vivid coming through frosted windows inside the rowing club where they held & stored all the boats. It was enlightening seeing them all mounted or stacked up high, seeing the dust in the room float gracefully through the shafts of light. I couldn't resist taking portraits of her in there. Debarati Sanyal - Remotely Photographed for Trinity College Oxford. ——— This is Debarati Sanyal, Professor & Head Graduate Adviser In French, Berkeley, California. It was a wonderful experience to be transported remotely to the USA to photograph this one. We can see Debarati's joyful energy in the portraits we shot while she regaled great stories. It is always quite a challenge to get the best light when not there to control it myself. We photographed Debarati in multiple areas of her fabulous home. We even went outside to get some sunshine but figured the best shots were where we saw the lovely colours & light streaming through the windows. Pranav Singh - Remotely Photographed for Trinity College Oxford. ——— This is Dr Pranav Singh, Lecturer in Numerical Analysis and Scientific Computing at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, University of Bath. Pranav had a DSLR tethered to his laptop as a webcam and was streaming using this rather than the laptop webcam, which gave me a better quality image and allowed me to see more context of his home office in the pictures. Pranav was incredibly friendly and a pleasure to shoot. We also spoke about his other passion, photography, in which he took out his medium format film camera & then talked about the contemporary world of mathematics and AI.
