Lexi Draper, 3-years-old and Scarlett Vaughan, 17-months old. They lived with their mother, Louise Porton. Porton was described as neglectful, not caring for her children and often leaving them in a neighbour's care. She was said to resent how her daughters got in the way of her social life.

In the early hours of 15th January, Lexi was suffocated to death by her mother. Porton delayed calling for an ambulance until she was sure Lexi was dead. Two weeks later Porton was heard laughing and video chatting to a male at the funeral parlour 2 days before she killed Scarlett on 1st February. After Scarlett's death, Porton, again, delayed calling emergency services and even filled up the car's petrol tank while the infant lay or dying in her car.

Both the girls' bodies showed they had died from deliberate airway constriction. Further evidence showed Porton had attempted to kill Lexi twice before; she had been rushed to hospital twice before. While Lexi was in the hospital, Porton took topless photos in the hospital toilets and arranged to perform sex acts for money with a man she met online. Porton had also made internet searches on drowning, death and breathing and how long it took body parts to go cold.
