i honestly really hate the term headmate, i know theres anti endos who prob use it and no hate towards you guys, use whatever terms you like best but honestly imo [and idk its origin] it just feels like a word steeped in making systemhood just a fun thing anyone can do. using terms like alter or part is accurate to what they are, a part of a whole or a part of self, and an "alter"native state of self. head mate is just look guys this completely whole being is in my head and were roommates happy times yay, and everyone can have headmates!!! groossss yuck. and not to mention the first use of it ive ever seen is from endos and like no one in that space and the people who learn about systemhood from those spaces use words like alter or parts, its always "headmate" and like this refusal to actually recognize what system hood is so you dont hurt poor endos feelings because they dont have alters/parts, they have "headmates". the mate part just really makes it gross for me like theyre your friends you have fun with [which can happen not saying it cant] but thats like the first thing you think of. and "make headmates" from the willo community also really forces that friend part of it idk i just hate it and i hate when people used that word on me, like im over here struggling with my mental health and youre like "π₯Ίyour poor headmates are being denied their existence" fuck off
even if the term originated from actual system communities now its just so steeped in endo communities and the "fandomification" of systemhood/DID/CDDs i cant see it any other way
