18, 25, 28?
(fic writer asks)
18. If you keep them, share a deleted sentence or paragraph from a published fic.
Here's a little bit of a deleted plotline from Inflection, in which Elrond and Elros took advantage of Maglor's injury to run away from Amon Ereb:
“Eluréd! Elurín!” came the shout in the distance. “Does he know those aren’t our names?” Elros asked. Elrond just shrugged. It was colder than they had expected when they had slipped away, and he was shivering as they perched on a branch halfway up a tree. “Elrond!” Maedhros called again. “Elros!” “Elros,” Elrond said quietly, his teeth chattering, “maybe we should go back.” “Are you mad?” Elros hissed. “This is our chance! Maglor’s dying, and Maedhros doesn’t care what happens to us—” “Then why is he out here looking for us?” Elrond pointed out reasonably. Elros did not want Elrond to be reasonable. “Maybe he wants to kill us,” he suggested — casually, but as soon as he said it he realised how unnervingly plausible it was.
25. Besides writing, what are your other hobbies?
Reading! I have been a bookworm since I was tiny. Now that I am an Adult with Adult Responsibilities I read less than I used to, but I still try to squeeze in some reading time every night before bed. I like to bake, too, and have also discovered I’m surprisingly good at extremely intricate nail art.
28. Your least favourite part of the writing process
Getting the first draft onto the page, I think. It can be pretty disheartening when the image in your head doesn’t come out the same way in words! But that’s what editing’s for.

A Haunting Tune
Consumed by the kind of misery that only an eight-year-old child who has lost everything they have ever known can feel, he curled up in a corner and wept softly to himself. And there he might have stayed all night had not he felt a gentle hand on his shoulder.
“Come, child,” the voice said, and it was full of pity and gentleness. “Come, let me take you back.”
He sniffed down his tears, wiped his face, and looked up into a kind face.
“Who are you?” Túrin asked.
“You may call me Daeron,” the Elf replied. “Now come, I will return you to your rooms.”
A very beautiful short ficlet about young Túrin and his encounter with an elusive, fabled singer.
Please do give both of them all the love you can!
Read the fic - it is delightful - and consider commissioning art (it's great fun)!
Please do not repost or steal this work of art. Thank you.
Special thanks to @polutrope for the rec of this ficlet and for the consistent and faithful promotion of Daeron as a character.

Muse, gimme the deets about this dude who really gets around—
The Music of the Ainur
Melian plays the harp for Daeron in Doriath.
Illustration of Hearken Still Unsated by @polutrope for @tolkienrsb 2022.
Summary:
“For how many years," he asks, "have we two listened for the echoes of the Music of Creation in the oceans and lakes and rivers? And yet we will never be sated. Like the water in which they say it lives, the Song does not rest but ever moves and changes. It may pool in a great lake for an age and then pour down into the Sea in another. It fills whatever spaces it can and flows by whatever paths most easily open before it.”
The Music unfolds strangely, even for those who can hear it most clearly. From a return home to a return to each other: Daeron, Maglor, and everything that stands between them.

My dear friends and followers (all 500+ of you), I thank you for following me and I hope that the fact that you do means that you enjoy my content.

Without further ado...let's see together :D

Thanks for inquiring! 🥰
This one is a fun little moment @polutrope and I are brewing. Young Findekáno returns to Tirion after being away at Valmar for some years. He is much changed to the delight of all 7 of his Fëanorian cousins.
They all go about wooing him in their respective ways, but being sons of Fëanor through and through, they are determined to get what they want. 😉
It should really not come as a surprise, and yet it does when Tyelcormo appears, attired in the best finery a prince of Fëanáro’s line can afford. His hair, a sparkle of summer mist, is free of his hunter’s braids, and the usual mud on his face has been replaced by delicate eyeliner and rose balm that thickens his naturally full lips.
Findekáno believes Oromë himself has come to offer his blessings as his cousin crosses the gardens atop his freshly brushed white steed. Tyelcormo’s eye is fixed upon Findekáno as he guides the graceful beast between the crowd of intricate hairdos and trays of colorful confections.
He rides straight at Findekáno and dismounts before him like a tear rolling down a noble cheek. Without a single word of greeting, he claims his mouth in a searching kiss, tangling his hands in his elegant curls twined with golden ribbons.
