Hello everyone! This isn't an "official" blog post, but I'm really excited to share the trailer for a Pokemon rom hack I've had the pleasure of helping on for the past 6 years.
Pokemon Monomyth is a rom hack of Pokemon Emerald that introduces a new region, new story, and a mix of returning Pokemon and exciting new Fakemon! A good handful of which were designed by me, even a few in this trailer, although I won't get into specifics until it comes out probably. And boy is it ever coming out!
Pokemon Monomyth, from beginning to its massive postgame, is ALREADY FEATURE COMPLETE. That means all we have left to do is bug testing and bug fixing. Now if you've ever done gamedev you'd know that's still a big undertaking, but we still have plenty of time to meet our FALL 2026 release date!
I did a lot of character design and fakemon design as my primary job, but nowhere near all of it. In fact, not a single thing in this screenshot collage was designed by me! @bonzosbunker and @stargazaar are just two of the artists I've had the pleasure of working with over the past 6 years, and there's plenty more. (But most of them don't have tumblrs, lol.)
I also did some additional writing, but I did not have much of a hand in the main plot at all, and especially not the gameplay or music. So I can say without too much bias that all of these things are really good, and I enjoyed beta testing it a helluva lot. I really hope you'll enjoy playing it just as much when it releases later this year!
Not really surprised, I had sketchy vibes from his introduction, even before we learned he had major sour grapes towards the Champion (Not really sure what triggered the alarm bells, since his dialogue was still kinda innocuous there tho.)

how easy are the gen 5 games to make a rom hack of
Given recent news of one of the bigger pokemon romhack sites going down (Romhacking.net) I've begun compiling a 'romhack preservation' file for pokemon romhacks.
It includes: NEW: Emulators for the GB, GBA, DS, and 3DS Base ROMs for vanilla pokemon games, for patching 99% of the romhacks on Romhacking.net Two patching programs to inject the romhacks into the roms Instructions on how to patch roms for newbies NEW: A folder of pre-patched ready to play ROMs

Over time I will add more romhacks from other sites, I am incredibly passionate about preserving Pokemon Romhacks, and hopefully anyone else who loves them will find some value in this project
